    The role of Global Education leaders in shaping RDGs is crucial. They can influence communities, promote development, and inspire inclusivity by bringing a global perspective to the table. They also play a crucial role in fostering partnerships and ensuring outcomes are enjoyed by one and all in the society. In addition, their influence on catalysing innovation and team spirit by diversifying culture is also well documented. No wonder, the trend of hiring global leaders in HEIs is catching on with an increasing number of universities betting on their capabilities.

    a) Redefining Job Description: Ensuring that leaders are familiar with region-specific challenges and opportunities can make a decisive difference in accomplishing RDGs. Prospective candidates must know the local economic landscape and social issues, besides having complete knowledge of the environmental concerns. They should have a prior idea of prevailing skills and knowledge gaps so that educational programs can be tailored accordingly. Further, these leaders must understand the regional policies as it’ll allow institutions to align their activities with these initiatives.

    b) Prioritising Local Innovation: Global Leaders should champion innovation by aligning institutional resources with regional issues. They must encourage research by inspiring faculty to develop solutions for local communities. It's obvious that these leaders must have a vision for a sustainable regional future and motivate stakeholders to work towards achieving it. Therefore, selection committees must screen candidates on their ability to adopt a “Glocal” approach towards innovation. The ideal candidate should be inclined to promote sustainability within the curriculum besides infusing creativity into the operational procedures of the institutions.

    c) Driving Collaborative Engagements: To achieve RDGs, top leadership of HEIs must build strong relationships across stakeholders. From local businesses to government agencies and non-profit organisations, these echelons must facilitate collaborations by driving fruitful engagements and partnerships throughout communities. Needless to say that an ideal candidate should inspire institutions to use resources and develop expertise for the betterment of local and regional people. Further, recruiting leaders who make institutions a valuable partner in regional development bodes well for sustainable development at local and regional levels.

    d) Promoting DEI: Global Leaders with a focus on achieving RDGs must focus on creating an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Especially for attaining local and regional goals, welcoming diverse perspectives and cultural heritage are crucial success prerequisites. Thai implies that while hiring for top roles in HEIs, recruiters must pay attention to the commitment of leaders to addressing inequalities in communities and promoting the cause of social justice. The dedication to DEI of leaders will have a telling impact on curriculum and help prepare students to focus on marginalised communities so that the fruits of regional development can be enjoyed by society at large.

    e) Execution Focus: While planning is an important trait of leaders in HEIs, the real success lies in the ability of leaders to translate RDGs into specific actions and achieve results. Developing programs, conducting research, and community outreach are some specific strategies that leaders must get their act together on. They must also have strong controlling skills and promptly make adjustments in case divergence exists between the proposed and the desired results. This means that while hiring for leadership positions, HR teams must pay attention to the result achievement and outcome orientation of prospects so that deliverables of KPIs will help achieve RDGs within a specific time frame.

    HEIs are essential in shaping regional futures, and by recruiting global leaders, the achievement of RDGs can be realised satisfactorily. Among the essential qualities, global leaders must catalyse innovation and promote collaboration among stakeholders. They must also exhibit a strong commitment towards DEI and execute with great attention to detail. Summarily, hiring global education leaders has become a strategic necessity and sourcing prospects with the above-mentioned qualities will surely help in achieving RDGs sustainably.
