What is UGC DEB ID?

A UGC DEB ID is a unique student identification number issued by the University Grants Commission – Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB). From the October 2024 admission session onwards, every candidate must have this ID for admission into ODL or online programmes.

• Visit DigiLocker and log in or register.
• Generate your ABC ID which is required before applying for DEB ID.

Step 2: Visit UGC DEB Portal

• Go to deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId
• Open the “Get Your DEB ID” form.

Step 3: Enter Details

• Fill in details such as ABC ID, name as per Aadhaar, year of birth, gender and contact details.
• Provide consent for authentication using documents like PAN or Passport.
• Enter the captcha and submit.

Step 4: Generate DEB ID

• After verification, your DEB ID will be generated.
• Note it down carefully. It may also be sent to your registered email.

Updating or Correcting Your UGC DEB ID

If there are errors in your DEB ID:

• Correct your ABC/APAAR card via DigiLocker first. The correction will reflect in your DEB ID within one day.
• For changes in mobile number or email ID, download your updated ABC card and email it to update.debid@gmail.com with your request. The correction usually reflects within two working days.
