The campus is okay, not too big but not too small either. Classrooms are average, some are clean while others need maintenance. Labs have basic equipment, but a few things are outdated. Library is decent, enough books but not very spacious. Sports facilities are limited, only a few options for games. Overall, the infrastructure works, but it’s nothing special.
The college academics are average. The syllabus is complete, but teaching quality really depends on the professor. Some classes are helpful, others just feel like going through the motions. There are not many interactive sessions, and practical is limited. You need to put in extra effort outside class to really learn. Overall, it’s fine if you just want to pass or get basic knowledge.
Placement opportunities are okay. A few good companies visit, but most packages are mid-level. The placement cell organizes training, but it’s not enough for everyone. Hard work on your own makes a big difference.
Fees are not too high, but the facilities could be better. Classrooms are okay, library is small, and labs sometimes don’t have enough equipment. Teachers are mostly helpful but a few don’t really care. You can manage your studies here, but don’t expect anything extra.
Campus life is average. Some teachers are helpful, some are not. The campus is okay, nothing fancy. Food is regular, hostels are crowded sometimes. A few clubs and events happen, but not often. Friends are nice, but overall, it’s just normal.
The college boasts good infrastructure, including comfortable classrooms, a mess hall, and a sports ground. The campus features a well-stocked library, updated computer labs, and a dedicated common area for female students.
The college boasts knowledgeable and resourceful faculty who provide an updated curriculum and teaching methods, helping students build a strong foundation and gain practical understanding and confidence.
Placement opportunities for undergraduate students at this college are limited. The number of recruiters is low, and salaries are minimal, requiring students to independently seek desirable employment.
Apart from placement, this college offers excellent facilities for its affordable fees (around 10-12k per annum), including a good mess with reasonably priced food, a well-stocked library, and knowledgeable faculty.
Good infrastructure ,two large buildings, two gardens and one large playground All type of labs and a large library, lifts and cameras, security is very tight every room has its specific wifi router with high speed
Teachers are good and well experienced ,students are very helpful most of students have great cgpa nearly of above7.5 Mostly teachers provide reading material to students from which they can make their study easier
There are no much placements in my course , But i think there are many students who get job from science courses mostly students in this college are part of any society in which they gather experience which helps them to getting a job
Fee is higher compared to other colleges
Full of new experiences
Infrastructure is decent enough. Wi-Fi isn’t enabled for students but teachers can access. Library is also good. The college has hockey ground, kabaddi ground, a normal ground, volleyball court, many gardens, amphitheater, seminar room, conference room, computer labs, labs of various subjects, multipurpose hall.Canteen food is much affordable and it’s good in taste
The teachers are well-professionally trained and there knowledge is good. They are not very strict they are good, they are very cooperative and helpful. They provide every sort of help possible from their side.
It’s an off campus college although the website of Delhi University says it’s a north campus college. So placement is poor here. You cannot expect the level of placements as much as you receive in north or south campus. The highest package is 7.5LPA and average package is 3.7LPA.
It’s a college of Delhi University but still the fees is quite high Rs.28,500 annual for first year in BA. But I can say that is a good value for money.
I’d say it’s average. My seniors told that the crowd has changed a lot after introduction of CUET. So the college crowd has a average level of campus life. It is in Shahadra so please don’t think it’s a North Campus college. Teachers are good here. Campus is small and it has lot of buildings. The nearest metro is welcome. While coming from metro side. There is a lot of bad smell in road. Our college is famous for best DU hockey team.
Please don’t take this college if you think it’s a north campus college cuz geographically it’s not located there.
The campus is compact but well-planned, with separate wings for classrooms, labs, and administrative offices. The library is well-stocked and allows access to DU’s online journal database. Computer labs are air-conditioned and have updated software. Sports facilities include a cricket pitch, basketball area, and indoor games. The canteen serves hygienic food at affordable rates.
Faculty focus on both theory and application. They encourage critical thinking through presentations, case studies, and group discussions. Regular internal tests and project work help students understand concepts better. Academic clubs run quizzes, group discussions, and research workshops for hands-on learning.
While big-brand recruiters may be limited, the college does well with internship tie-ups. NGOs, e-commerce startups, and local firms offer marketing, finance, HR, and research roles. The placement cell organizes mock GDs and interview-prep sessions to build student confidence.
The fees are minimal for the facilities provided. Students benefit from DU’s credibility and can join certificate courses or internships at very low cost, making the entire experience budget-friendly.
Societies like drama, music, photography, entrepreneurship, and environmental clubs ensure a lively atmosphere. Annual fests and inter-college events bring a celebratory feel to the campus.
The college features a combination of traditional architecture and new-age facilities. Seminar halls with audio-visual setups, Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, and eco-conscious lawns create a pleasant environment. Sports facilities include a well-maintained ground and indoor recreation spaces. Safety measures like CCTV and dedicated security staff add to students’ comfort.
DU syllabus is taught rigorously, but with flexibility—faculty members arrange remedial classes for weaker students and career counseling workshops for those preparing for competitive exams. Departments such as Commerce, Economics, and Political Science are particularly strong. Guest lectures from industry professionals and alumni help bridge the gap between academics and real-world exposure.
The placement cell invites a variety of organizations for campus drives—mainly NGOs, research firms, marketing agencies, and startups. Students also get help in finding internships during semester breaks. Alumni mentoring sessions guide final-year students about career choices.
The college’s low fees combined with quality faculty, digital resources, and DU certification make it one of the best return-on-investment options in East Delhi. Students receive career support without financial stress.
Beyond academics, the college buzzes with events—cultural fests, debates, talent shows, and NSS social drives. Students often collaborate with societies across DU, building a wide network.
Shyam Lal College has transformed over the years into one of the better-maintained off-campus DU colleges. Its classrooms are spacious, well-lit, and many are equipped with smart boards and projectors. The library has both physical books and access to online e-resources, plus quiet reading corners. Computer labs are modern with updated systems. The lush front lawns, sitting areas, and a newly renovated canteen add to a student-friendly environment. Security, water facilities, and Wi-Fi zones ensure comfort throughout the day.
The college maintains solid academic standards across arts, commerce, and science streams. Faculty members are approachable, qualified, and often blend lectures with discussions and real-life examples. Beyond lectures, there are internal assessments, tutorials, and workshops to develop practical understanding. The college encourages students to join research projects, attend seminars, and present papers at conferences to build confidence and subject depth.
The placement cell has been steadily improving, inviting a mix of startups, NGOs, and companies for internships and jobs. While high-paying packages like North Campus may be limited, the training provided in resume writing, aptitude tests, and mock interviews enhances employability. Students are also guided to take competitive exams, fellowships, and off-campus internships.
With its extremely affordable fee structure compared to private universities, students gain access to DU-level curriculum, a recognized degree, and numerous extracurricular opportunities. Fee concessions and government scholarships support financially weaker students.
The campus life is vibrant, with active societies in dramatics, debate, dance, music, NSS, and entrepreneurship. Annual fests, inter-college competitions, and cultural programs give students opportunities to showcase talent and build lifelong friendships.
Shyam Lal College, which is part of Delhi University, has been a good learning experience for me so far. Being a DU college, the academic structure is already well-defined, but the overall journey depends a lot on how actively you participate in classes, societies, and events. Here is my detailed review of different aspects of the college.
The B.Com program at Shyam Lal College follows Delhi University's well-structured curriculum. Core subjects like Financial Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, and Corporate Laws are taught in detail. The faculty ensures that the fundamentals are clear, which helps not only for semester exams but also for competitive exams like CA, CS, and MBA entrances. Regular internal assessments, projects, and presentations keep the academic environment active. However, the syllabus is mostly theory-based, so students who want more practical exposure might feel the need to join external workshops or internships.
Placements are moderate. The placement cell tries to bring companies on campus, but opportunities are more in sales, marketing, BPOs, and entry-level roles. Average packages are around modest levels, and very few top corporates visit compared to DU's premium colleges. For students aiming for high-paying jobs, pursuing higher studies like MBA, M.Com, or professional courses (CA, CFA, CS) is advisable. On the positive side, the placement cell also connects students with internships, which helps in building practical experience.
Being a Delhi University college, the fee is very affordable compared to private universities. For the quality of education, exposure, and DU brand name, it is definitely value-for-money. Even though infrastructure and placements are average, the low fees make the overall return on investment good. Students who are self-driven and explore opportunities outside the campus will find it especially worth it.
Campus life at Shyam Lal is as vibrant as you make it. There are several active societies debating, dramatics, dance, music, and commerce clubs which organize cultural fests, competitions, and events throughout the year. The annual fest is the highlight, with good participation. If you join societies, you'll enjoy an engaging and fun-filled college life. Otherwise, campus can feel a little monotonous. Students are generally friendly and open to networking, which adds to the experience.
My overall experience at Shyam Lal College has been positive. It provides a solid academic base, helpful faculty, and decent opportunities for extracurricular growth at an affordable fee. Placements may not be very strong, and infrastructure could improve, but the college gives you enough space to grow if you take initiative. With active participation in societies and focus on academics, you can make your three years here both enjoyable and productive.
