Shyam Lal College, Delhi: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Shyam Lal College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi that was established in 1964. NAAC has accredited the institute with an ‘A++’ grade. According to the NIRF 2022 rankings, Shyam Lal College ranks 77th. The college offers courses at the UG and PG level. A total of 20 courses are offered here. Admissions to UG and PG courses at this college are offered on the basis of CUET and DUET, respectively. The college offers a total of 20 programmes. These courses are offered across streams like arts, commerce, and science at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Shyam Lal College courses are offered in regular mode. B.Com, B.A. and B.Com (Hons) are some of the UG courses provided by the college. The institute only offers one PG course - M.A. The duration of the Shyam Lal College UG courses is three years and the duration of the Shyam Lal College PG course is 2 years. Students must meet the eligibility criteria for the course of their choice.

Shyam Lal College Admissions

The institute gives admission to UG and PG courses. For UG course admission, candidates must apply and appear for CUET. On the other hand, Shyam Lal College admission to PG courses is done based on the  DUET score. As per Shyam Lal College admission criteria, it is mandatory for students to apply at the University of Delhi admission portal. After the entrance exam, the university releases a list of cut-offs in multiple rounds. Candidates who meet the cut-off are eligible for the round of counselling. After the counselling, the college releases a list of finally selected students.

The cutoff for UG courses and the cutoff for PG courses is released by the University of Delhi in multiple rounds. In order to take admission to the courses provided by the college, it is mandatory for candidates to meet the Shyam Lal College cut-off requirements. CUET cut-off should be met for UG admissions which is released according to the different categories. The number of students appearing for the exam, difficulty level, and others are the factors determining the cut-off for a particular year.

The college offers a number of scholarships and awards to its students. These students are offered scholarships either on the basis of their academic merit or on the basis of their financial needs. Some of the scholarships that are awarded include the World Brotherhood Scholarship, Shri Sundar Lal Rohatgi & Smt Roopwati Rohatgi Memorial Prizes, Shri R.C. Sharma Special Cash Prize and Kanchan Nagpal Memorial Trophies & Prizes. The amount of scholarship ranges from a minimum amount of Rs 250 to a maximum amount of Rs 5,100.

The college has a Training and Placement Cell that manages and coordinates the recruitment activity of the students through the placement drive. The Placement Cell works diligently to provide job opportunities to the students through the placement held in the college. The placement cell organises webinars, seminars, workshops, personality development programmes, guest lecturers to prepare students for placements.
