The School Of Open Learning was established in the year 1962 and was earlier known as The School of Correspondance Courses and Continuing Education. It is affiliated with the University of Delhi. The School of Open Learning, University of Delhi offers a total of 41 courses out of which 31 courses are certificate courses, 5 courses are UG courses and 5 courses are PG courses. Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria to get admission to these courses. Admission to these courses is based on merit and entrance examinations. The college also provides placement facilities and library facilities for its students.

The School of Open Learning, University of Delhi has two campuses North campus and a study centre in the South. The north campus is in Cavalry Lane, University of Delhi at New Delhi and the south campus is located in South Study Centre, South Moti Bagh (Old Moti Lal Nehru College Building) in New Delhi. The nearest metro station to the north campus is the Viswavidyalaya Metro Station which is 550 m away from the campus.  The nearest metro station to the south campus is Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh metro station which is 950 m away from the campus. The nearest railway station from the north campus is New Delhi Railway Station which is 8.1 km away from the campus and the nearest railway station from the south campus is New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. Both are 12 km away from the campus. The nearest airport from the north and south campus is Indira Gandhi International Airport which is 19 km and 5.5 km away from the campuses respectively.
