Tulsiramji Gaikwad-Patil College of Engineering and Technology (TGPCET), Nagpur, and AICTE-approved and NAAC-accredited. The institution offers programs in engineering, management, and computer applications from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. The admission process for TGPCET is conducted to select the most brilliant and sustaining pool of candidates through several entrance tests conducted at both national and state levels. The admission cycle for TGPCET usually begins in the months of May-June for an academic session commencing in August-September. For undergraduate engineering programs, admission is based on either JEE Main score or MHT-CET score. Eligibility criteria for the postgraduate program is based on a GATE score, while consideration is also given to scores of CAT, CMAT, MAT or MAH MBA CET for MBA and MAH MCA CET for MCA programs.
Basic eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs consists of completing the 10+2 exam or an equivalent qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board. The postgraduate degrees must be in a relevant discipline and from a recognized university. TGPCET accepts entrance tests through JEE Main, MHT CET, GATE, CAT, CMAT, MAT, MAH MCA CET, and GMAT. These tests assess candidates' quantitative ability, verbal skills, logical reasoning, and subject matter knowledge. Candidates, therefore, are suggested to follow the relevant syllabus and practice thoroughly using last few years' question papers of the competitive examinations.
Application Process
The application process of TGPCET varies as per the program.
B.Tech Programs:
1. Qualifying examination JEE main/MHT-CET.
2. Registration for the counseling process at state level (for Maharashtra students).
3. Fill up the application form on the official website of TGPCET.
4. Payment of application fee.
5. Ready with the documents required to be uploaded.
6. Counseling process if shortlisted.
M.Tech Programs:
1. Securing a valid score in GATE.
2. Application through the official website of TGPCET or the centralized admission process or both.
3. Payment of application fee.
4. Uploading of documents, as required.
5. Interviews or any other test, if applicable.
MBA and MCA Programs:
1. Qualifying in the entrance examinations respectively (CAT/CMAT/MAT/MAH MBA CET for MBA, MAH MCA CET for MCA).
2. Application through the official TGPCET website or through the centralized admission process.
3. Payment of application fee.
4. Submission of required documents.
5. Attending the next selection stage if shortlisted.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.Tech: Several B.Tech programs are being offered by TGPCET in different disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, Aeronautical Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Admission is based on JEE-Main or MHT CET score. Total of 960 seats are allotted in all B.Tech programs.
M.Tech: Integrated Power Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Structural Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering Design, Aeronautical Engineering, and Electric Vehicle Technology are all M.Tech programs that the college offers. Admission to the above courses is primarily on the basis of GATE. A total of 180 seats are available for M.Tech programs.
Admission to the MBA program at TGPCET is based on CAT, CMAT, MAT, or MAH-UET scores. The 2-year MBA program is offered to 300 students imparting training in various areas of management education.
MCA: MCA at TGPCET has 300 seats for which admissions are based on the score obtained in MAH-MCA-CET.
Diploma: The college also offers diploma programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology. The total intake for diploma courses is 420 seats.
A few documents which are needed generally include:
Selection shall be done on the basis of merit list prepared based on entrance examination score, document verification, and counseling round. However, for certain programs, additional criteria for selection like Group Discussion or Personal Interview may be considered.
