Government Medical College, Nagpur was established in 1947. The college is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). All India Scholarship Entrance Examination (AISEE) is a national level merit-based scholarship exam that provides the scholarship for medical students from Government Medical College, Nagpur. Government Medical College and Hospital Nagpur is spread over an area of 196 acres. All the departments started operating within a few days. In the beginning, the college was started in the Engineering School campus, Sadar, Nagpur. The college initially started functioning with only undergraduate programmes, but now offers admission to postgraduate programmes in various disciplines.
