The college infrastructure is pretty good it has library, reading room, canteen, amphitheatre and good spacious classrooms with ventilation with proper wifi connection that helps students. All the classrooms and washrooms are maintained well and cleanliness is taken care of.
As a B.com programme student the quality of teaching is nice. The teachers are very helpful towards the students. The curriculum is updated and there are all recent developments in the method of teaching. Teachers use projectors to teach which enables the students to understand the concept properly.
The placement is nice. The students are placed in some of the internships. The placement rates are increasing and students are continuously trying to get placements from the college. There is a placement cell society also in the college.
Absolutely yes, for my course it is value for money. I get a feeling of getting my money's worth. The money that I am paying is really good for the course that I am pursuing. My course cost around 16 thousand per year.
The campus life is very good and vibrant. The crowd of the students are really engaging. The students are very helpful and friendly with each other. This enables the students to know each other very well.

The campus has all the basic facilities like classrooms and a library. The environment is disciplined and suitable for focused learning. Overall, my experience at Shyam Lal Evening College has been positive, and I would recommend it to students looking for quality education in an evening college setup.
As a student of Shyam Lal Evening College, I feel it is a good institution for those who want to continue their higher education while managing work, internships, or other responsibilities. Being an evening college under the University of Delhi, it provides a flexible schedule without compromising on academics. The courses offered, especially in Commerce and Arts, follow the University of Delhi curriculum and are well-structured. Along with theoretical knowledge, we also get exposure to practical learning, which helps in developing communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Shyam Lal Evening College does offer support, but it’s important to have realistic expectations. Since this is an evening college with many students juggling work or other studies, the placement scenario is not as large or highly structured as in some full-time professional colleges. The college organizes placement drives, invites companies for recruitment, and helps with internship opportunities when possible. Some students have secured roles in internships and entry-level jobs through college placement efforts or alumni networks, but much of the job search also depends on individual initiative, networking, and preparation.
One thing I appreciate is the balance between academic learning and extracurricular activities. There are cultural events, seminars, workshops, and active student societies that help in personality development, build confidence, and improve communication skills

Good Curriculum: Relevant courses with a mix of theory and practicals, preparing students well for life and competitive exams (UPSC, RBI). Hindi/English Teaching: Professors teach in both languages, making it accessible, though sometimes Hindi-focused.
The placement cell actively supports students, with good placement rates and packages (8-9 LPA average in some courses), especially for commerce/management-oriented programs, and strong internship opportunities.
Affordable Fees: As a DU college, fees are very low compared to private institutions, making it highly accessible. Excellent ROI: The combination of low fees, quality education, and supportive environment offers excellent return on investment.

Shyam Lal College Evening offers a positive campus experience with supportive, knowledgeable faculty, especially for evening classes, decent infrastructure including Wi-Fi, labs, and a library, and vibrant extracurriculars like sports (hockey is strong) and societies, providing a good value-for-money education despite being geographically separate from North Campus, making it a solid choice for working students seeking academic growth and a balanced college life.
Infrastructure is really good as compared to some of the colleges of North campus as well ( like ramjas) but it lacks tech infrastructure like projectors or smartboards etc With wifi availability.....
Professors are really kind and understanding . Helps in academic as well also in other aspects like they support students when they are doing internship or pursuing professional courses or anything else
Placement cell is in emerging phase. From the past years placement cell was not so active and not so big companies used to come as I have heard , (not experienced) but last year I have saw some of the well known companies for placement with various job roles , so yes it's in emerging phase and also it depends on the team that is working under it , if they are not motivated or encouraged why would they invite companies .
As per the fee structure slce is a great option , some of the colleges of du has more fees but are not even half good as this college . Just because its name has got a bad reputation doesn't mean that it's a bad college
Because of off campus you can't feel the campus life or vibe there , but campus of college is really big , a ground where you wanted to come after bunking your lectures , and the beautiful flowers also greenery makes you feel you never wanted to go
Don't judge this college by people talking shit about . It's a college that focuses on academic, societies and many more fun elements .
Very good infrastructure college contains various sports grounds and new building is constructed now only every thing is proper marinated in college Canteen areas are clean they take care of proper hygeine

The College has a good infrastructure of facilities of both academic and extracurricular activity . the classroom was well menatained ,clean and with projectors. The library also have a good learning environment. the clean washrooms and proper drinking water also available in campus.
I am studying b.com Hons. To create my future in finance the quality of teaching is excellent and the teacher maintain a healthy environment to learn the concepts easily and the curriculum was updated the new subjects include like gst , digital empowerment overall environment is good
Placement in my College are okay but not great around 60 to 70% students get placed every year and highest package was 9 Lpa last year for b.com and avg. Package of 4-5 lpa for others. Mostly companies mostly come for role in finance, sales the placement also helps in attracting opportunities but sometimes it will unorganised students and college both need to do more efforts to attract and get more opportunities.
Overall environment of college is very good and students can do much better in getting more knowledge and fun activities with friends
It's a commendable setup for an evening college—well-equipped in academics and extra‑curricular support—though allocating some budget to refurbish old infrastructure (seating, cooling, backup power) would significantly enhance the student experience.
Academically, Shyam Lal Evening scores well: robust faculty, updated curricula, skill‑based learning, and practical readiness are clear strengths. The flexible evening schedule supports working students. To enrich the offering further, the college could boost internship engagement and create more active clubs or societies. Overall, it provides a solid, value‑for‑money foundation in academics.
The placement scenario at Shyam Lal College (Evening) is moderate. Commerce students fare better, with median packages around ₹4–5 LPA and strong cell support, while Arts students see fewer opportunities and lower salaries. Outcomes vary based on stream, individual effort, and proactive engagement. Overall, success depends significantly on each student’s skill development and initiative.
Shyam Lal College (Evening), part of Delhi University, offers very affordable undergraduate education. Annual fees range from ₹5,000 to ₹9,000, depending on the course—much lower than private institutions. For Commerce and Arts degrees, the full three-year cost often stays under ₹25,000, making it one of the most economical choices in the region.
Shyam Lal (Evening) offers a surprisingly lively campus life given its timings: green spaces, robust sports and tech facilities, active societies, and genuine peer support. The main drawbacks are limited weekend social flow and minor maintenance needs. For students seeking a balanced DU experience with minimal fees and moderate extracurricular options, this college campus feels welcoming and worthwhile.
Shyam Lal College (Evening), affiliated with the University of Delhi, offers an affordable, value-driven undergraduate experience. Established in 1969, the college caters primarily to students looking for flexible evening schedules—ideal for those who work during the day or prefer a less conventional academic routine. Located in East Delhi near Shahdara Metro Station, the campus offers accessibility, greenery, and a modest yet functional academic environment.
The infrastructure and the environment of the college is very good. In short i should give a 5 star rating in terms of college environment and infrastructure. Rather i should say best college of Delhi university.
The faculties are very supportive in terms of education for those students who have issues in understanding the concept. faculty having an experience of 5-10 years in their respective field or department.
Placement in the college in not very much high, there is an average placement in good companies. Average students is not selected through college placement so only cream students having and expert knowledge and practical exposure are selected from their
Off-course value for money.
My experience in shyam lal college is very nice, all together i’m fully satisfied with this college.
