Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai was founded in the year 1857 for art education. This affiliated college, situated in 78, Dr. D. N. Road, Fort, Mumbai, is one of the oldest institutions responsible for moulding and nurturing the art students since 1857. Recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, Sir J.J. School of Art offer admission in the programmes of specialisation in several department of art. The institute takes the total of 359 students and has 14 members of faculty, which makes the learning atmosphere in the institute is selective and compact for learners who wish to join the institute to become artists.
The following are the available facilities that make the institute a suitable place to encourage students’ creativity and all roundness. The library is full of reference books which can be beneficial for the students, however the books are issued for using it in the premises only. Making computer labs ’Mac and PC’, along with a set of graphic’ software’ makes a learning environment instrumental for digital art creation and research. Sir J.J. School of Art has both boys and girls hostels for those who need the services and aspiring students must apply for the hostel once they have secured a place in the institute. There are also sports grounds and facilities as well as gym and cafeteria to ensure students lead a healthy lives. An auditorium is a hall used for event and seminars which create the cultural life of the society. Alumni Association actively supports current and former students, so the college has close relationships with its graduates.
There exist numerous course which are offered by Sir J.J. School of Art so as to accommodate artistic personalities with different preferences and ambitions. Currently the institute offers 19 courses in total, accelerating diploma programmes, diploma programmes and post graduate diploma programmes in addition to MFA specialisations such as Sculpture and Modeling, ATD, Art Education and Ceramics.Painting. These courses are meant to make the students develop broad and profound understanding of the selected field of art along with the skills associated with it. The Master of Fine Arts in Painting is a two-year painting course designed to take five days a week, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm.

The application procedure for Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, depends on the program but follows the same steps in general.

Degree wise Admission Process
Diploma in ATD:
The Diploma in ATD program at Sir J.J. School of Art can take in 25 students. Admission requires holders of a passed 12th standard from a recognized board. The admission process likely includes evaluation of academic records and possibly an aptitude test or portfolio submission.
PGD Art Education:

jj school of arts conducted its entrance exam this year offline, even though the exact dates for the commencement of classes have not been announced yet, the classes will begin soon. due to the covid situtation there might be a delay in the commencement of classes as the university goes online and offline. but the classes will start soon
