Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, which is also known as BAU was established in 1981. The university’s primary objective is to develop area specific technologies and manpower in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry and forestry for the agricultural development of the region and to strengthen the economically backward class of society and tribal areas too. BAU provides the opportunity to pursue both UG and PG courses in the university for interested candidates across the country.
BAU is situated in Kanke Patratu Rd, Ranchi, Jharkhand. There are several ways to reach the university campus. One can travel by train, plane, bus, or even cab or auto according to their convenience. The details are given below.
1. By train, Ranchi junction railway station is the nearest railway station from the university campus, which is at a distance of 12.6 km.

BAU is fully equipped with the latest technologies that are applicable in the learning and skill development of the agriculturally based course work. All the basic facilities are provided by the university to ensure that students and staff lack nothing in the learning and teaching process. They offer hostel accommodation, library, labs, healthcare, and much more as needed. The details of the facilities are provided below.
Central Library: The central library of the university was set up in 1987, and efforts have been made to equip the library with latest books and other sources of learning. The library is fully digitalized to make it easier access for students and staff. Students and staff can use the library for reference and knowledge enhancement purposes.
Computer Centre: The computer centre works as the support system or root of digitalization in the university. It takes care of the digital network needs of the university and takes charge of the broadband connectivity in the campus.
Hospital/Health Care: The university provides healthcare facilities for students and staff, which are run by qualified doctors and medical compounders. For emergency situations, an ambulance is always present in the campus to reach the patient to the nearest hospital.
Hostel: 14 student’s hostels are made available in the university, out of which 5 are for girls and the remaining for boys. The hostels are provided separately for boys and girls, and the hostels are furnished with all the daily essentials, and mess facilities along with recreational areas are also present in the hostel for hostellers.

Birsa Agricultural University campus is fully equipped with infrastructural facilities such as hostels, library, guest house, hospital etc. Other than that, there are facilities like a computer centre, conference halls, radio station, greenhouse, glasshouse, poly house, sports and game etc. Students are free to use these services and facilities according to their comfort and convenience.
Birsa Agricultural University has various scholarships and fellowships under its umbrella. Apart from that students can also apply for the scholarships offered by the Government of India, UGC and MHRD.
DAAD Scholarship- Under this scholarship, international students can apply to numerous organizations for a scholarship. This scholarship is offered to selected students and the selection of students is based on subject-related criteria.
E-Kalyan- This scholarship is eligible for all Institutions in Jharkhand recognized by Government of Jharkhand/Competent Authority. E-Kalyan Jharkhand Scholarship 2021 – Under the Jharkhand E Kalyan Scholarship Scheme, the E-Kalyan Jharkhand Scholarship can be availed by students belonging to SC/ST, OBC Castes. The scheme is specially centered towards people who due to lack of financial assets are not able to continue their education. Under this scheme, all the beneficiaries wishing to get a scholarship will have to apply online by visiting the official website of the Jharkhand E-Kalyan Department. The scholarship is exclusive for students who have successfully completed class 10th.

The University is having altogether 14 students hostels out of which 9 are for boys. All the hostels are equipped with modern facilities like computer, internet, telephone, common rooms with magazines, newspapers and XV. Each hostel is having indoor game facilities. One Gym has also been provided to boys and girls hostel. In each hostel, the mess is being managed by the University and equipped with modern essential items.
