Diploma, postgraduate and postgraduate diploma courses are offered by Karnataka University Dharwad. The university provides a total of 51 courses in total. KUD Dharwad courses are offered in commerce, sciences, education, law and various other disciplines. Some of the courses offered by the university are Diploma in French, M.Com, M.A., M.Sc., M.C.A., L.L.M etc. Karnataka University Dharwad courses are offered in regular mode. It is mandatory for candidates to meet the eligibility criteria of the desired programme in order to pursue courses offered by the university. The university offers Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes in 20 and 15 specialisations respectively.

The number of affiliated colleges has grown from just 34 to more than 250 during the past 70 years. The university has 3 PG campuses at Haveri (42 acres). Gadag (32 acres) and Karwar (6 acres).
Students who wish to enrol in a university course must first apply by completing the application form. From course to course, different factors are considered in the selection process. Depending on the number of open seats, candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and selection criteria are chosen.
Karnatak University, Dharwad, in all, has 21 hostels. Around 2,600 students are accommodated in these hostels.
