Government College of Education, Jammu is the oldest and most prestigious institution of learning in Jammu and Kashmir. The admission procedure in Government College of Education, Jammu is highly selective and merit-oriented, admitting only the best candidates into its programs.
The college has a rigorous admission process that is tailored based on the program. For the B.Ed program, admissions are done through an entrance test administered by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE). This enables competitive and merit-based selection of potential teachers.
The joint B.Ed-M.Ed course also has similar merit-based admission process. The students are selected based on their qualifying exam and/or entrance test score. The relative proportion given to each component may be varied according to the policies of the UT administration, state government, or the university.
Application Process

Degree wise Admission Process
B.Ed: The strength of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course in Government College of Education, Jammu is approved at 200 students. B.Ed admission is based on the entrance test organized by JKBOPEE. The two-year course is designed to take up a teaching career at the secondary and higher secondary levels.
M.Ed: Intake for the two-year postgraduate Master of Education (M.Ed) program has been sanctioned for 29 students. Admission to the program is made on merit, based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination, an entrance test, or any other method of selection as determined by the state government policy, university, or UT administration.
B.Ed M.Ed Integrated: This integrated course combines Bachelor's and Master's levels in Education. The admission process for the course is merit-based considering the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or an entrance test. The selection process may also consider other criteria as decided by the state government, UT administration, and university norms.
