Batch of 2012 | B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering
MBCET is part of Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar. The college is affiliated to Kerala University. The location of the college is a prime factor. The infrastructure and the faculty are good. The corporate exposure needs to be improved. Separate hostel available for boys and girls.

Batch of 2015 | B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The overall experience was not bad. Hostel was very near to the college and the best part was the hostel experience I had. College infrastructure and teaching are one among the best. Industrial training and placements in related fields are very less like all other colleges. This is indirectly due to the fewer vacancies in the job in India.

All Work and No Play made me a Dull Engineer...

Batch of 2015 | B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The college itself is located atop the Bethany Hills far from traffic and noise. The campus is of average size but provides the barebone amenities like a medium sized auditorium, a small canteen, a cafeteria, well-equipped labs, e-clasrooms, a small gym, a basketball court and a ground (shared by two colleges and a school). Towards the end of 2014, wifi was enabled in campus for final year B.tech and the whole M.tech division like a beta program. The labs and classrooms were good but comparing it to many other colleges, it was lacking. The canteen and cafeteria were small and couldn't handle the large number of students and faculty that crowded around it during the extremely small recess. The auditorium was multi-functional and acted as a badminton court, storage area, meeting room etc. The lack of a ground was not felt as there was no time for games in between those hectic hours of work. A larger cafeteria and canteen with a better organized method of operation would've been great. Also the parking facility was excellent, at least for those who availed it. Industry exposure was poor, actually nearly no exposure to industry was provided by the college. Initiative for that should be taken from the side of the students and even if a group showed interest, the faculty was not very tolerant of it. Most of the initiatives were rejected by pointing out that portions for exams had to be covered. I think that the college should encourage students to go on more Industrial Visits and take initiative in it. The college being located at practically a hilltop made it scenic and serene, but the calmness ended at that. The faculty were extremely strict and the workload unbearable. The problem in my opinion was that focus was too much on exams and results rather than education itself. Most of the teachers were knowledgeable and wanted to pass it on properly thus crafting us all into excellent engineers but the primary goal being high pass percentage and marks made this impossible. Learning by practice is the best method for a profession like Engineering but this was not the case in our college. The whole blame for this cannot be on the faculty and college, the students are also partially responsible. The placement opportunity in the college was exceptional, if you were an average student with no back-papers then chances are that you would surely be placed. Reputed companies like MuSigma, InfoSys, MRF etc. came to our college and the college provided training for placement. There was an excellent placement cell and we would be notified of any and all placement opportunities in time. I personally received two offers one from MuSigma and the other from InfoSys. Both had great packages for freshers. College Hostel was excellent, it had spacious rooms, clean toilets, and bathrooms. The food was average. The only problem was drinking water which was filtered from a nearby pond, but most of the time the filters of the water dispensers were broken. Wifi was also being set up in the hostel. The college intakes students based on merit as well as in quotas like NRI. The students in merit seats had to pay a small fee (below one lakh) per year compared to some other colleges. Students with financial difficulties were provided with help. Considering everything I would recommend the college any student who wishes to secure good marks and a degree to join the college but if your goal is to become a good engineer, then you should work a lot to improve your skills on your own. If your only goal is to enjoy college life, then find another college.
