To be eligible for the NIELIT 'O' Level Course, candidates must have completed
10+2 or ITI Certificate (Two Years) after class 10 or ITI Certificate (One Year) after class 10 with one year of experience post qualification.
OR
Successful completion of the second year of a Government recognised polytechnic engineering diploma course after class 10, Training of ‘O’ Level course concurrently during the third year of the said three years Polytechnic engineering diploma course. The certificate of ‘O’ level will be awarded only after successful completion of the polytechnic engineering diploma.
OR
10th pass and certification in the immediate previous NSQF Level Qualification in relevant fields.
OR
Relevant Qualification of immediate previous NSQF Level with 2 Years of experience.
The NIELIT 'O' Level syllabus is structured across two semesters which are as follows:

The duration of NIELIT ‘O’ level (IT) course is 540 learning hours and the minimum period to cover contents is one year for candidates undergoing ‘O’ Level after 10+2 and six months for candidates undergoing ‘O’ Level after Graduation.
The fee for NIELIT ‘O’ level course is Rs 22,680. The ‘O' Level course fee can be paid in two instalments.

Candidates of the NIELIT 'O' Level course have to appear in the final examination. Registration is a pre-requisite for appearing in ‘O’ Level (IT) examinations. Candidates have to register with NIELIT through the student portal student.nielit.gov.in. Registration will be valid for five years. The registration fee of NIELIT ‘O’ level exam is Rs 500.
There are two types of NIELIT 'O' Level exams:
1. Theory Examinations
NIELIT ‘O’ level theory examination is conducted twice in a year (in the month of January and July) by NIELIT HQ, Delhi at designated examination centres all over India. The list of exam centers are listed while filling out the online examination form. Students can choose one of the exam centres according to their convenience.
The full mark of each NIELIT ‘O’ level paper is 100 and the exam duration is 3 hours. The examination fee of NIELIT ‘O’ level for each theory paper is Rs 750 + Rs 100 processing fee.
2. Practical Examinations
There is one practical paper for the NIELIT ‘O’ Level Course. Students need to provide the option for appearing in practical examinations while filling up the examination form. The NIELIT ‘O’ level practical examination is based on the syllabus of M1-R5, M2-R5, M3-R5 and M4-R5 modules.
The duration of each NIELIT ‘O’ Level practical examination is 3 hours. The Practical Examination fee is Rs 500.
The ‘O’ level NIELIT course has a project as an important component. The project is carried out by the student under guidance and support of faculty. No marks are assigned for this, but candidates are required to carry out the project successfully.
Students who complete the NIELIT ‘O’ Level project work submit a project completion certificate in the prescribed format for issuing a pass certificate to NIELIT HQ.
