For NIELIT O/A/B/C level examinations, registration is a pre-requisite. Examinations are held all over India in January and July each year.
For the NIELIT CCC exam, candidates with any educational qualification can enrol in the NIELIT CCC course.

NIELIT conducts separate exams for DLC (ACC/BCC/CCC/CCC Plus/ECC) and O/A/B/C level courses.
NIELIT 'O', 'A', 'B', 'C' level examinations are conducted in January and July each year.
Dates for the various activities connected with NIELIT O/A/B/C exams are announced through newspapers in advance of the examinations, normally in the last week of February and August relevant to July and January examinations, respectively.
