Last date to fill the application form for IGNOU admissions to ODL programmes is January 31, 2026.
GATE 2026 examination will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026.
The IGNOU campus is very huge. The campus has a well- furnished library, computer labs and online learning support. Online study materials also available including video lectures and they are accessible from anywhere.
The syllabus and curriculum are regularly updated and well maintained. The teaching staff is also very good and knowledgeable about their respective subjects. They provide quality education to scholars.
There is no 100 percent or guaranteed placements in IGNOU because it is not a full- time college. Some students manage to get their jobs or placements on their own. They sometimes organise these programs for specific courses.
As IGNOU deals in distance, open learning and self- study so the value of money is relatively low. Almost full -time colleges make a good value for money they also do not provide placements so the value for investing money in such college is a waste.
Talking about campus life its very minimal in IGNOU as it is not a full- time college so no cultural fests are happening in the campus. Also, no scope for sports or extracurricular activities. It is good only for students who prefer working part time and studying.
In the end I want to address this college as a minimal college for students who are active in social participation as they are not initiating any fests or functions in the college campus. It is good for students working part time.
IGNOU'S infrastructure is a mixed bag: functionally brilliant at the core (the books and the digital access) but often administratively frustrating at the local level. It works best for self-motivated learners who treats the local centre as a last resort, not a primary resource.
I am currently enrolled in the BA ECONOMICS (1st Year). I chose IGNOU for its flexibility while working. The academic quality heavily relies on the Self-Instructional Material (SIM), which is excellent and comprehensive for self study. The counselling sessions at the Study Centres are highly variable in quality and consistency. The curriculum is strong on fundamentals (Micro/Macro), but the updating process for contemporary topics can be slow. Success here requires high self-discipline.
IGNOU is an Open University for eligibility, not a traditional placement campus. The quality of direct placements facilitated by the Campus Placement Cell(CPC) is low and highly inconistent, typically drawing recruiters from the IRES and services sectors for entry level-jobs. The percentage of students placed through the CPC is very low (around 2% to 8%), but this number is skewed because most IGNOU students are already employed or focousing on government exams and higher studies, where the recognized degree itself is the primary benefit. The median salary reported for UG graduates placed is modest, typically around Rs 3.5 LPA. Job success ultimately rests on the students's individual skills and efforts, as the university provides the qualification, not guaranteed employment.
With a fee of just Rs 6000 per year including study material, the cost is minimal. This low investment buys a fully recognized degree, which is the vital eligibility requirements for high-value competitive exams(UPSC, Bannking) and higher education (MA Economics/MBA).
IGNOU has no traditional campus life. The "campus" consists of flexible, widely dispersed Study Centres (LSCs). These LSCs are not dedicated campuses but are usually classrooms or facilities borrowed from existing colleges.
Good infrastructure with good faculties. Having different departments with works very nicely . Helps the students on the given times also having good library and all the books are available with them.
Academic is very communicative with the students and also teach the students very well with modern study materials and guide in the proper path. Have different types of resources so that students can get good knowledges.
Indira Gandhi national open University brings companies for placements , as it's a distance education platform but still helps the students to get a placed so that atleast they can starts they employment journey.
the college infrastructure is great it has different seminar halls with projector it has a big campus and a big cafeteria it has a library with thousands of books the college is very organised and building is very tidy
the studies are brilliant they provide regular courses as well as correspondence courses they professors are amazing and teach very well they encourage group discussions in class and teach via ppts and visual aids
placements opportunities are good college provides opportunities to students to follow their dreams they allow various big companies to come and take interviews in the campus and offer great packages.
yes
IGNOU provides excellent online study material, e-content, recorded lectures, and digital libraries, which make studying flexible and convenient. The learning environment suits students who prefer self-study or are working professionals, but it lacks the typical campus experience.
Faculty interaction happens mostly during weekend counseling sessions or through online meetings, which are limited but informative. The university conducts exams twice a year, maintaining strict academic standards.
The university has a placement cell that sometimes collaborates with external organizations, but such opportunities are quite rare and limited to metro cities. Most students pursue IGNOU’s B.Com degree while working, preparing for government exams, or planning for professional courses like CA, CS, CMA, or MBA.
IGNOU is a national open university where students study on their own, as it does not provide regular physical classes they can only provide online classes. However, when i visited their office, i found that the facility were quite basic.
Their academics are also average because they only follow UGC guidelines. The syllabus is outdated, and they provide only online classes. The curriculum does not meet current industry demands.Quality oof teaching is average.
Indira gandhi national university is a national open university that mainly focus on distance learning and they can not provide physical classes. The university does not have a placement cell and not type with some companies.
College infrastructure was average. Because they are open university. Students can study from from. I am going to ignou office only some official work and assignment submission. Basic amenities are also not available.
Academics are also not updated till now they can follow the rules of old structure not modernize their syllabus. They can provide online teaching but quality of education is not so much good. If can hard work then u are eligible to pass.
In my batch they have 0 zero % percent students got placed. No placement cell is available in the campus. They can only focus on exam on time and they give result on time this the major role of my college.
IGNOU is different from private or regular universities in the sense that it does not have a typical campus life. The greater part of the academic works are carried out through study materials, online classes, study centres, and assignments. Some of the regional centres have been developed well and have good libraries where students can study in a calm environment.
Faculty support is there during doubt clearing sessions, counselling sessions, and through online lectures but direct communication is limited as compared to regular colleges. Some of the faculty members are highly qualified and their explanation of political theory and public administration is, without a doubt, very helpful.
There are no campus placements for MA Political Science students at IGNOU. As an open university, it mainly focuses on academics and flexibility rather than placements. Students are required to find jobs on their own or to prepare for competitive exams. A majority of the students enrolled in this course opt for UPSC, State PCS, NET-JRF, SSC, and other government exams preparation.
The University amazing for the students who aren't able to afford high education. University has all the basic infrastructure and provide all the things very helpfully. The University is supportive...
Affordable and supportive. No such pressure from from University nor from Professors. Time given much for submission of assignment and also for the study to prepare for the exam. Cooperative environment
Depend on the grace marks we get in the exams viva and term end theory and/or in practical if there is any included in your course or mandatory as per the course choose by the students. Chill environment
Depends on the programme or course you select it's upto that only like for Bachelor or arts it cost upto 5000/- maximum including exam fees each year and for Master in any subject of arts it cost year wise. First year ur cost 11000/- maximum and in 2nd year 8000/-
Amazing
Highly recommended
college infrastructure is really nice and proper affiliated classrooms with proper facilities. all labs and workshop had proper instruments . and also had great sports activities . it had all the facilities.
academics were really well. teachers were really supportive and helpful . faculty was top notch . curriculum was very well organized. I really enjoyed my college life because of the environment with very less academic stress
placement stats were average. it basically depend on the course for my course mostly students preferred higher studies but overall it was ok . the college had a great connection otherwise with industries

Hello
Yes, you can do an IGNOU B.Ed (distance mode) along with a regular M.Sc from another university at the same time.
UGC rules now allow students to pursue two degree courses simultaneously.
One course should preferably be in distance/ODL mode and the other in regular mode, which fits your case.
Both degrees will be considered valid, provided you meet the eligibility criteria for each course. You will need to manage your classes, exams, and schedules on your own. It’s always best to confirm once with IGNOU and your M.Sc university before final admission.
Hello Aspirant,
Hope you are doing great. There are several best and top most colleges that are offering the course of Computer science and engineering both private and government:
