The Centre for Biopolymer Science and Technology was set up in 2012 at Kochi, Kerala, India as a specialized institution. This affiliated college focuses on enhancing research and education in biopolymer science and technology area. CBPST is located on the industrial town of Udyogamandal that provide both academic and industrial exposure. The institute still is fairly small with an emphasis on education being primarily comprised of a chair and 2 members of the faculty, this affords the students personal interaction and attention. CBPST has five courses at three levels of degree programmes and they focus on polymer science, biopolymer science and plastics technology.
CBPST admits to the responsibility of ensuring that student have a proper learning environment. Synthesis and testing laboratory Several laboratories Many and testing characterization and mechanical laboratories The institute has well equipped synthesis, testing characterization and mechanical laboratories with Scientific MFI, HDT & VSP testers. However small, the college library is packed with knowledge containing almost a thousand books, periodicals and other reference materials. The library has RFID technology installed and also has a DL and it provides the students with RFID technology facility for a large amount of information resources in digital format. For the convenience of the users who seek the accommodation, CBPST has decent hostels section for boys and girls exclusively. These are completely separate hostels equipped with internet rooms, reading rooms, indoor gaming facilities, gymnasium, dining hall and other facilities to make a comfortable stay of outstation students.
CBPST academic programs are broad and divided into many categories. The institute offers 5 full time programs, Ph.D., M. Phil., M. Sc. and Diploma. CBPST proffers a doctoral degree program in Material Science with a focus on Biopolymers at the Ph.D. level. At the postgraduate level, a student can take either the M.Sc. Polymer Science or the M.Sc. Biopolymer Science. The institute also offers two diploma programs: Diploma in Plastics Technology which is offered by Polytechnic and Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology offered by Polytechnic. These are intended to enhance student’s understanding as well as technical ability in areas of concentration of their discipline.
CBPST operates through various programs and the admission of students in every program differs. As per the norms of the affiliating university, the selection and eligibility criteria of the Post graduate courses like M.Sc. Polymer Science and M.Sc. Biopolymer Science and Ph.D. program have been set. Diploma programmes offered are Plastics Technology and Plastics Mould Technology For which there is a CIPET Joint entrance examination that has to be passed.

The CBPST is the Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology (Kochi). It is the industrial town of Udyogamandal, which houses the first CBPST and provides unique exposure to both academic and industrial experiences. The Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology admission process is intended for the selection among the different programme offerings in the areas of polymer science, biopolymer science, and plastics technology. The Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology admission process for diploma courses are in three different levels, namely: Doctoral (Ph.D.), Postgraduate (M.Sc.), and Diploma courses. Every programme has a different acceptance policy and selection process. Postgraduate programmes at CBPST operate on the same systems as prescribed by the university it is associated with. The Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology admission process has academic standing as one factor considered in the admission process for the M.Sc. Polymer Science and M.Sc. Biopolymer Science.
The Doctoral admissions for Ph.D. in Material Science with Special Emphasis on Biopolymers also consider the admission prerequisites set by the university. Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology admission process criteria might include aspects like the assessment of academic performance, evaluation of the research proposal presented by the candidate, and probably an interview. Polymers Technology and Polymers Mould Technology Diplomas are courses offered by CBPST, and admission to such programmes is made through the CIPET Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). This examination is standardised across the country to measure students' aptitude and knowledge in the relevant subjects.
For Ph.D. and M.Sc.
For Diploma programmes:
Admissions are conducted through entrance examinations or merit-based shortlisting as per the course level. Candidates should follow the university or CIPET norms for final selection.
Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology offers a Ph.D. Material Science with Special Emphasis on Biopolymers programme. The doctoral programme deals with advanced research themes in biopolymers. Admission is on the basis of the norms of the attached university, which may well include aspects of academic records, research proposal, and possibly an interview or entrance test.
Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology offers an M.Sc. Polymer Science and M.Sc. Biopolymer Science programme. Both M.Sc. programmes are within the selection procedures and eligibility criteria as well as admission stipulations of the client university. Selection of candidates would be based on their undergraduate performance in the relevant subjects, scores secured in the entrance examinations (if any), and interview performance.
Central Institute of Biopolymers Science and Technology offers a Diploma in Plastics Technology and a Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology programme. Admissions for these diploma programmes are carried out through the CIPET Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The steps of selection include:
CBPST is committed to equipping students with academic and industrial competencies in biopolymers and plastics, fostering sustainable and applied scientific knowledge.
