Yes, To get admission at Nift for B.Des one has to clear the entrance test of the institution.

It includes -

Written test ( CAT And GATE exam )

Situation test

The CAT and GAT test are held on the same day.  candidates shortlisted from written test has to give situation test.

Vicky, NIFT Entrance exam usually takes place in Third or Fourth week of January. This year it was also held in the month of January. NIFT Entrance Test i.e. Creative Ability Test and General Ability test both are conducted in the same day. Application usually starts in the month of October. And it lasts up to December. Now this year the situation is different. If everything stays in favour by then, the application may start in October 2020. Then the examination will be in January. But if situation get worse, then the authority may postpone the application and the exam date. Now it all depends on the situation. Hello,

No, you are not required to take admission in any university in order to get admission in NIFT. However, you are required to appear for the entrance exam conducted by NIFT to take admission in the various courses offered by the institute. The minimum eligibility criteria for getting admission in NIFT is that students must have passed 10+2 with any recognized board and they should be of minimum 23 years of age. For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 5 years.

The admission in BDes in fashion design in NIFT consists of three process or test.

1) GAT -general ability test

2)CAT - creative ability test

3) situation test.

The candidates are shortlisted on the basis of written test which comprises of CAT and GAT.

The syllabus dose not changes every year. However the number of questions may vary in each section and for each course year to year. The level of difficulty in questions for all courses may vary.
