About SD College Ambala
Sanatan Dharma College was established at Lahore in 1916. The college was re-established at Ambala Cantonment in 1948. Dr Rajinder Prasad, the 1st President of India, laid the foundation stone of the present building in 1951. In 1948 the Defence Ministry of India provided 14 acres of land in Ambala Cantonment for the college building. The institution was inaugurated by the first Speaker of Indian Parliament, Sh G. V. Mavlaonkar.
The College offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in art, commerce and science. The College is recognised as the College With Potential For Excellence. Youth Red Cross: The vision of the Youth Red Cross is to become a leading humanitarian organization serving vulnerable people. The members of the club regularly take part in the various events and promote humanitarian services in society.
Red Ribbon Club: The aim of the club is to harness the potential of the youth by equipping them with correct information on mental health, substance abuse nutrition and reproductive health and building their capacities as peer educators in spreading messages on positive health.

NSS: The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU”. This expresses the essence of democratic living, and appreciation of the other man’s point of view. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programs. NSS volunteers of the college actively take part in a variety of activities, which include blood donation, HIV-AIDS awareness, family life education, functional literacy, help for the visually impaired, college-campus cleanliness, skill development and leadership and personality development.
Skill Development Programmes (SDP): The college has opened up a Skill Development Centre under the UGC Scheme of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Ability and livelihood (Kaushal). Under this programme, students are trained in market-oriented programmes. SDP organise the training programmes on personality development and communication skills and help students to prepare better for the recruitment process.
