Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) at Cuttack, Odisha, is a premier institute offering courses in rehabilitation training and research. SVNIRTAR conducts its admission cycle mostly in sync with the academic year, which starts in most cases during the months of August or September. For the undergraduate courses, a Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted jointly by the institute with the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata. This CET is held on an annual basis for the selection of candidates to the courses: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT), and Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BPO).
For the postgraduate programmes-Master's in Physiotherapy (MPT), Master's in Occupational Therapy (MOT), and Masters in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO)-the SVNIRTAR organises the All-India Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET), which is held under the chairmanship of the Director, SVNIRTAR. Minimum eligibility criteria for SVNIRTAR admission to the undergraduate courses usually require the candidates to have passed the 10+2 examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subject papers. This criterion for postgraduate courses requires candidates to have qualified for the concerned bachelor's degree in the relevant field. They might have different eligibility criteria for each of the programmes, so the candidates are advised to visit the official website for more details.
The application process for SVNIRTAR programmes involves a sequence of steps:
Since different programmes have specific eligibility criteria and selection methods, the admission process is not uniform across all courses. Below is a comprehensive outline of the degree-wise procedures offered by the college.
SVNIRTAR Admission to the BPT programme is based on the All India Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted jointly with NILD, Kolkata. The course has an approved intake of 62 seats. Candidates must clear the CET and meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for admission.
This process is the same as BPT, SVNIRTAR admission for BOT will be granted through the CET. The course has an approved intake of 62 seats. In the selection process under BPT, the candidates were selected according to their CET results.
The same process of CET SVNIRTAR admission is being followed by the BPO programme. There are 46 approved seats for the programme. Candidates are selected on the basis of performance on the entrance test and qualification of eligibility criteria.
SVNIRTAR conducts an All-India Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET) for SVNIRTAR admission to its MPT programme. The course has an approved intake of 15 seats. Candidates having a BPT degree are eligible to apply for this programme.
SVNIRTAR Admission to MOT is also on the basis of the PGET conducted by the institute. Approved intake is 15. Candidates are eligible for this MSc course if they have a BOT degree.
MPO course has the same admission pattern as that of MPT and MOT and offers selection based on PGET. The approved intake of the course is 10 seats and eligible candidates with a BPO degree can apply.
Submit photocopies of all necessary credentials that may be required for verification at the time of admission.
The teachers are experts in their own fields . As these fields are quite separated from normal mbbs curriculum, the institute have specific professors to offer those courses . The curriculum is quite updated keeping in view the modern developments for disabled people and developments in Medtech sector.
