Akal University, Bathinda was established in 2017. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate honours courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Psychology, Economics and Commerce and English and Punjabi languages and Ph.D programmes in Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, English & Economics. AU Bathinda is spread over an area of 100 acres offering various academic and infrastructural facilities including smart classrooms, library, sports, hostels, transportation, laboratories, health centre, computing facility etc. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Clubs, Committees & Societies:-
NSS- National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Youth Programme which is established under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Students of Akal University, Bathinda have also conducted various programmes under this scheme including international yoga day, blood donation, leprosy campaign, swachh bharat, literary campaign, mass cleaning, mass tree plantation, road traffic awareness, sand sculpturing, polio vaccine, disaster management, PFMS training etc. to spread awareness among the common people.
La Societe Botanique- This society has been formed to develop a sense of responsibility in students for the environment. Various programmes and events have also been organised by the members of this society.
Chemical Science Society- The Chemical Science Society of AU Bathinda has been formed so that students can know more about the field of chemistry and science through various activities and events. The members of this society indulge themselves in different activities like poster-making competition, collage-making competition, making things out of waste competition, model making competition etc.
Divinity Club- The Divinity Club of Akal University aims to motivate the students in developing interests towards religious, cultural social affairs. Various events are also conducted by this club to encourage them towards religious affairs.
Dr. Manmohan Singh Business Club- The Dr. Manmohan Singh Business Club of AU Bathinda has been formed with the objective of providing a platform to the budding entrepreneurs in the near future by letting them know about the skills and strategies of the business field. Various events, workshops, business talks, industrial visits, live projects, experiential learnings are also conducted by this club to teach the students about the business related strategies practically.
Environment Society- The members of the Environment Society of Akal University engage themselves in different plantation programmes to work towards improving the environment. The members of this society also adopt different activities and ideas to spread environmental awareness.
English Literary Society- The English Literary Society is a platform where students engage and encourage each other to nurture their literary skills. Students get an opportunity to develop their writing and speaking skills. The members of this society involve themselves in activities to take a break from their academics.
Mathrix Society- The Mathrix Society of Akal University has been formed to discuss any topic related to Mathematics. Lectures and discussions are conducted by the department of Mathematics to develop the knowledge of students in Maths. Various events including quiz competition, PPT competition, poster making competition, model making competition, guest lectures, seminars, etc have also been conducted by the members of the society.
Psychology Society- The Psychology Society aims to develop the importance of psychology among the students by providing them with a platform to know more about this field. Various seminars, expert lectures and other academic activities are also conducted by the members of the society.
Physics Association- The Physics Association aims to encourage students to gain more knowledge in the field of physics. Various events including quiz competition, paper presentation, poster competition, workshops, seminars, etc have been organised by Physics Association.
Zoological Society- The Zoological Society has been formed to show the importance of conservation of biodiversity among the students of the university. Various competitions, conferences, seminars and workshops are also organised by the members of this society to show its physical implementation.

Akal University provides separate hostel facility to boys. These fully furnished hostels provide a safe and homely environment to the students. It is made sure that the hostels remain free from the drug abuse. The students staying in the hostels are served nutritious vegetarian food at nominal charges.

There is special provision of counselors to motivate, guide and address personal day to day issues and problems of students. University has appointed a staff nurse to provide emergency health care to the students. Along with this there is a provision of ambulance services are available on the campus.
The library at the Akal University has a well-stocked Library & Learning Centre with silent study spaces; video viewing facilities; newspapers, magazines and periodicals; and computers (all with Internet access and USB Ports and print facilities). The Central Library caters to the information needs of the institutes faculty, students, staff, research institutions & industries. Priority is given to keeping library collections up-to-date, with an emphasis on main texts for undergraduates and taught postgraduate courses. Space and Sitting Capacity of the Hall: The whole library is divided into 4 sections i.e. (a) Stack area, (b) Circulation section, (c) Reference and Periodical section and (d) Reading room and ICT Lab. The library has 2 separate reading rooms for boys and girls. Total sitting capacity is 80 at a time including ICT Lab and reference section in the library. Books: Total 7850 books available in the library Journals: 42 print journals and 19 print magazines have been subscribed in 2017. OPAC: OPAC provides the facility of searching, browsing, and reserving physical materials available at library. Users can log in, check status of the issued books, suggestion, fines, create reading list etc. Automation: Automation and security system of the library is based on Koha Library Management Software integrated with RFID technology.
To inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship among the students, Akal University conducted 1st Two-day Athletics Meet on March 17 and 18. The Meet was inaugurated by Prof. Gurpreet Dhillon, Department of Information Systems, Virginia Commonwealth University. He congratulated the University for the first Athletic Meet and encouraged the students to participate in all events with vigour and vitality as sports play a constructive role in their life. On both days near about 160 students participated in various field events that include 100m, 400m, 800m, 3000m Race, Long Jump, Tug-of-War, High Jump, Relay Race, Jevlin Throw, Discus Throw. The faculty members had also shown active participation in 100m, 400m races and Tug-of-War. Prof. Gurmail Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Akal University was the Chief Guest of the concluding day. He said, “Sports foster team spirit among the students and make them disciplined”. Many dignitaries including Prof. Sawarn Singh, Registrar, Prof. M.S. Johal, Dean Academic Affairs, Sardar Cheta Singh (retired DSP, Talwandi Sabo), S. Janak Singh (retired DP), S. Harcharan Singh, Coach and S. Gurpreet Singh (D.P. Bhaga, Akal Academy) were present there. Kamaljit Singh and Rupinder Kaur students of B.Com. Semester II were adjudged the best athletes. The meet concluded with the felicitation of winners and Medals.

University has also subscribed to leading online resources that will aid students in their advanced research fields. Along with this the departments of Mathematics and Physics have advanced computing consoles for advanced research purposes.

The University provides excellent transportation facilities with a fleet of buses separately for students and staff. Transportation focuses on accessibility rather than the mobility and Hi-Tech Group provides a wide range of transportation facility. There is a Transport Committee observing transport facility for students and maintaining discipline and anti-ragging in the buses.The Committee discusses the problems regarding transport facility and takes disciplinary action if necessary.
