Institute of Advanced Research was established in 2006 with the support of Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the then President of India. IAR Gandhinagar is a not-for-profit institute, supported by the Puri Foundation for Education in India. IAR Gandhinagar has been conferred the status of a university by the Gujarat Private Universities Amendment Act, 2011. The campus of the university is well situated on the banks of the Sabarmati river, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Institute of Advanced Research is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The mission of the university is to provide research and innovation-based educational opportunities to the students with the vision of creating professionals to lead the society and the nation.
The university offers courses in the fields of engineering, science, commerce, management, arts and research. The various courses offered by Institute of Advanced Research are B.Tech, B.B.A, B.Sc. (H), B.A., M.Sc., M.B.A, M.Tech and Ph.D. For admission to the courses, candidates have to go through the university screening process. Ample facilities are provided by the university for the students and faculty members. Institute of Advanced Research facilities are boys hostel, girls hostel, library, auditorium, cafeteria, transport, sports, gym, wi-fi, IT infrastructure, laboratories, guest house, etc. The hostels are available for both boys and girls students and are very comfortable for the accommodation of outstation students. Students at IAR Gandhinagar have the options to select air-conditioned or non-air-conditioned rooms as per their comfort. Other facilities provided by the hostels are high-speed internet, vegetarian food in the mess and other basic amenities.
There is a central library at the Institute of Advanced Research. Numerous resources are available in the library. These resources include textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, periodicals, newspapers and many more. Institute of Advanced Research facilities include an auditorium, equipped with the latest technology like audio-video systems, projectors, etc. Various events, seminars and convocations are organised in the auditorium.

The cutoff at IAR Gandhinagar is the minimum qualifying marks required by the candidates to qualify for the next round of B.Tech admission. Institute of Advanced Research cutoffs are released after the result of GUJCET. The cutoff marks are released as closing ranks and maximum marks.
Financial Assistance and Merit Scholarship Scheme are the scholarships provided by the university. Candidates can also avail Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojna, offered by the Gujarat government. Candidates aspiring for Institute of Advanced Research scholarships have to meet the eligibility criteria. After that, candidates are awarded the scholarship amount.

The training and placement cell of the university provides placement assistance to the students. There are certain eligibility criteria for the students to be met to be eligible for the Institute of Advanced Research placement process. Both on-campus and off-campus placement is conducted. Institute of Advanced Research offers admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes. Meeting the eligibility criteria is the first step of the IAR Gandhinagar admission process. The institute offers B.Tech, B.B.A, B.Sc. (H), B.A., M.Sc. M.B.A, M.Tech and Ph.D courses. B.B.A, B.Sc. (H) and M.Sc., except M.Sc. Biotechnology have a common admission process. For admission to these programmes, candidates are called for interview and counselling. Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of merit. As per the IAR Gandhinagar admission procedure for the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme, candidates have to appear for GAT-B before being called for interview and counselling. Selection is strictly based on merit. For Institute of Advanced Research admission to the B.Tech programme, candidates have to appear for GUJCET. The university releases cutoff after the declaration of the result. Candidates meeting the cutoff have to register on ACPC website.
