I would like to say that, in any institute or college you may study, because every institutes have their own way of teaching, but if you want to know exactly that which is better, then you should ask the individuals who is or who was studying in that institute. You should focus on yourself and your study.
Thanks for query on this platform, you may visit again for further queries.
All the best.
For COEP, last year cutoff was around 58 (ME). As you know this time paper was bit easy so i think cutoff's marks will only increase by 2-5 marks(maybe).
There is waiting list also , sometimes waiting list student also gets admission into COEP but COEP never put waiting list score in its cut off.
I don't know much about DIAT, so can't put wrong figures.
I want to know first if she is interested in any specific field or has Career Goal. There are many Degree, Diploma or Certificate programme but it depends on the interest. Generally students go for the higher studies like M.Sc in your desired field if they are targeting for the Research area or Teaching profession but as you told that the aspirant is not interested to go for it. The other option she can opt for MBA / PGDM with the desired specialization.
Please let me know her interest first then I can suggest you better.
The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) is located in the education hub of Pune in Maharashtra. It was founded back in 1952. As the name suggests, the explicit aim for starting of this institute, was training of the armed forces’ personnel. Likewise, the training of the para- military forces, defence PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) and the defence research organizations is also done here. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been behind its establishment. It was earlier known as the Institute of Armament Studies, adopting the present name in 2006. The DIAT was earlier affiliated to the Pune University, but has now been given the tag of a Deemed University by the UGC (University Grants Commission) since the year 2000.
The DIAT has been accredited by both the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) and the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in the latter. Its courses have also been ratified by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). This college focuses on the master’s level onwards courses. At the PG level, one of the most extensive courses is the M. Tech in Aerospace Engineering. This course is highly relevant for personnel from bodies such as the HAL (Aeronautics Limited) and NAL (National Aeronautics Limited). This programme may be taken up in the specializations of- Guided Missiles, Air Armament and for UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). The one on Air Armament is only open to personnel sponsored by the MoD.
Another important area is the M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. For this, the specializations on offer are in- Marine, ACV (Armament and Combat Vehicles), Mechanical System Design and for Robotics. The last one mentioned is an inter- disciplinary course. One can also go for an M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. This may be done in the fields of Cyber Security and for Software Engineering & Intelligent Systems. Some other important areas for the M. Tech are for- Sensor Technology (ST), Modelling & Simulation, Lasers & Electro- Optics (LEOC), Technology Management, Material Engineering, Corrosion Technology and in Opto- Electronics & Communication Systems.
The largest intake for the M. Tech however is in the areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering and in Material Science & Chemical Technology. The latter may be pursued in the areas of specialization in- Materials Science & Technology, Chemical Science & Technology and for Energetic Materials & Polymers (EMP). The M. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering offers a total of six areas of specialization. They are in- Defence Electronics Systems (DES), Radar & Communication, Signal Processing & Communication, Navigation Systems, Wireless Networks & Applications and for VLSI & Embedded Systems. The last one is offered in collaboration with the NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology) in Kozhikode, Kerala. Some doctoral research programmes may also be pursued here, from the DIAT.
The entire academics here at the DIAT is run by a cohort of nine departments, each having expertise in its own area. These departments are for the fields of- Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technology Management, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics and in Bio Science & Technology. Research plays a very important role in the development of the Pune- based Defence Institute of Advanced Technology. That is why a number of the faculty members have been published across respected journals. Several research projects have been completed here, and many are ongoing. Quite a few patents have also been filed by the administration at the DIAT. A number of conferences are seminars are also periodically held on campus. Some of the key topics on which, such events have been held recently include – “Embedded System Design using Vivado” and the “Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) for Armament and Combat Vehicle Technology”.
The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for girls. Boys may take up residential facilities available nearby. Banking facilities with ATM, convenience stores and public transport may all be access, just outside the campus. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor games. The gymnasium may also be used by all. The campus is Wi- Fi enabled. A health centre is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. Some of the portals the college library has access to includes- ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery), Pro Quest, J- Gate, Nature Archive, SCOPUS and Springer link.
The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology has thus secured high ranks across platforms. The Careers 360 magazine has placed it at the AAA+ category among engineering colleges. For the same category of colleges, the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework), powered by the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) has ranked the DIAT as the 63rd best in the country.
Careers360 shortlists over 5000 colleges across domains each year. Out of these colleges, only those colleges are rated/ranked which provide transparent data requested by Careers360. The cumulative scores of colleges are then calculated and they are divided into clusters as per their scores. Careers360 ranks private and government colleges separately as the support system of both types of Institutions is completely different.
