Introduction:
Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research is a deemed university in Tamaka, Kolar, Karnataka. It was found in 1986. It is a Medical University which currently has two faculties which are Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. It has one constituent college under its name , Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College. SDUAHER was granted with deemed to be University status in 2007 by Ministry of HRD, govt. of India.

It is located in Tamaka village, Kolar, Karnataka near the Bengaluru-Tirupati Highway NH-75. The nearest bus stand is Kolar bus depot which is 5.3 km away. Infrastructure:
1-Hostels- At SDUAHER, there are separate hostels for undergraduates, interns, NRIs and postgraduates. The hostels are located in the campus premises and include a separate hostel office and a mess. The total accommodation capacity for undergraduates hostel is 377, interns’ hostel capacity is 94,postgraduates’ hostel capacity is 158 and NRIs’ hostel capacity is 57. For women, the accommodation capacity of NUGH is 294, PGWH’s capacity is 228, SWH’s capacity is 214, NRI hostel capacity is 61, JWH’s capacity is 44 and IWH’s capacity is 24. Hostel facilities include a reading room, a recreation hall with TV, gym, newspaper and visitors’ lounge.
2-Library- The SDUAHER library is centrally air-conditioned and well furnished. It has Wi-Fi facilities to browse and access the resources. The library contains 25555 volumes of books, 1082 journals and 1071 CDs. The library has fully fledged digital library with 1GBPS internet bandwidth and more than 40 computers, printers,scanners and SSPS software.
3-Classrooms and labs- The classrooms and labs are spacious and digitally equipped with Wi-fi facility.
Facilities:
1-Food Court- There are food courts installed to meet the refreshment needs of the students with good-quality food.
2-Sports and Fitness Centre- The campus comprises of a large variety of indoor and outdoor sports and games.
3-Transport Services- Transport services are provided to students from every corner of the district.
4-Banking Services- Banks and ATMs are installed in the campus premises to meet all the banking and transaction needs.
5-Campus Store- There are general stores within the campus to meet the basic daily needs of students.
6-Student Counselling Centre- There is a counselling center for students which ensures that all the issues of students are heard and addressed. It aims to make the students self-confident, self-reliant and committed to the cause.
Clubs, Committee and Societies:
1-ICMR- To popularise research culture among students, the University arranges for special guest lectures of eminent scientists and is encouraged to participate in research methodology workshops.
2-Demedcon- Demedcon is the National level undergraduates medical conference. It brings students from all over into one platform and interact with experts in various fields. Its primary aim is to share and promote research. It teaches students the importance of communication skills, empathy and professionalism in the field of medical science. Preconference workshops are there which provide hands-on experience required to become a physician. Medical quiz, street plays and clinicopathological conferences are the highlights of this annual conference.
3-Sankeerna- Its a magazine organized SDUMC which is printed annually and describes all the worth mentioning events which happened in the college throughout the year.
4 - Sports Club - The sports club organises all the major sports events in SDUAHER. All the sports related maintenance is carried out by the Sports Club.
