Hello Aakruti.
You have to give two papers namely Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) for NIFT entrance exam 2020 containing general aptitude along with case studies. It will be pen and paper based exam and
NO, there won't be any negative marking in the exam for 2020 for B.Des. but for B.Ftech there is 1/4 deduction for every wrong answer
The exam is on January 19, 2020.

If you are pass overall in your 12th and if you will clear nift/ nid then you will get admission as the eligibility criteria requires a candidates should have passed 10+2 examination from any recognized central/state board.

The NIFT entrance exam is a pen and paper test with two papers- Creative Aptitude Test (CAT) and General Aptitude Test (GAT). For B.Des. and M.Des., GAT is conducted for 2 hours and for B.F.Tech., M.F.M., and M.F.Tech., GAT is conducted for 3 hours because of the differences in the weightage. The number of questions also differ from course to course.

CAT evaluates your creativity and deigning aptitude. This is important if you are seeking Bachelors of Design as your course.  Your intuition skills and observation skills should be put into practice to achieve good marks in the same. Colour and illustration skills become important and will also be evaluated in this.

GAT evaluates the academic aptitude like Mathematics (class 10th level), Reasoning, English Language and Comprehension. It also consists of GK, current affairs and the knowledge of the fashion industry.

English consists of spot the error, sentence correction, analogies, syntax, synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one word substitution, fill in the blanks, spelling errors, grammar and arranging the sentences or passages in the correct order.

Reasoning consists of verbal and non-verbal series, directions, ranking, calendar, sitting arrangement, coding-decoding, cubes and dices, clocks, syllogism, puzzles, blood relations, eligibility criteria, line counting, graph and related things.

GK and Current Affairs section apart from the GK and current affairs, also consists of questions based on fashion. Be aware of TV endorsements and their taglines used for different products in the same, fashion terminology, entertainment events, brands, logos, celebrities, Miss Universe, Miss World and fashion trends both which are in and out. Other than that, be thorough with current affairs consisting of the political, economic and social situation and also with sports, culture and history of India.

Mathematics consists of the pipes and cisterns, work time, simple interest, compound interest, averages, mensuration, set theory,  number system, ratio and proportion, ages, profit and loss, speed time, height and distance,mixtures and allegations, trigonometry, upstream & downstream, permutation and combination and probability.

There are 100 questions for B.Des. paper which are divided as follows:

English Comprehension- 25 questions

Quantitative ability- 20 questions

Communication ability- 25 questions

Analytical ability- 15 marks

GK and current affairs- 15 marks

The exam pattern of both the exams is little different.

CEED examination ( conducted by IIT , Bombay) consists of 2 sections- A and B. Section A will contain 41 questions and section be will contain 5 questions( 20 marks each question). Both section will be of 100 marks each. Part A will be computer based and B will be pen- paper based.

Part A will be a screening test and those who qualify part A will be evaluated for part B.

And for NIFT , the GAT paper for B.Des will consist of 100 questions and the total marks of examination is also 100. And for B.F.Tech, the number of questions will be 150. The exam is offline, paper based.

And CAT paper will consist of 3 questions and marks will be out of 100.
Admission in B.F.Tech will be fully based on GAT whereas for B.Des the weightage of CAT is 50% , GAT is 30% and situation test will be of 20%.

Though, the syllabus is quite similar for both the examinations (CEED And NIFT)

Hell student you didn't mention the course you're talking about there's two course exam held for nift one is Bdes and the other is B.ftech.
There's no negative marking in b.design exam and there's 0.25 Negative marking in B.ftceh. The exam is of 2hrs for b.design and 3hrs for b.ftech.
The medium of language is English both exam are paper based test.

Hello student you didn't mention the course you're talking about. For B.design there's no negative marking but if you're appearing for B.ftech then there's a negative marking of 0.25marks on each wrong answer.
The exam is of total 100marks.

Hi there, fashion designing in NIFT is a very good choice if they are not picking up the call you should go and enquiry in the college you should also try to do emails and try to find other mode of contact if you somehow fail to contact them in every mode then go to the college and if you live nearby then you can easily go and enquiry there . It's a good course so don't miss the chance if you have it . Hope this will help you.

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts the NIFT entrance exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in design (https://www.shiksha.com/design-chp) programmes offered by it. Each year, more than 20,000 students appear for NIFT exam.

Considered to be a pioneer in fashion education, NIFT has its headquarters in New Delhi . Apart from this city, NIFT has domestic centres at Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Shillong, Raebareli and Srinagar.

NIFT entrance exam is three-tiered in its format for BDes and MDes course admissions. As part of the NIFT entrance exam 2020 for BDes and MDes admissions , candidates need to first appear for Creative Ability Test (CAT) which is followed by a General Ability Test (GAT). The final admission round for BDes course is a Situation Test and that for MDes is GD/PI round. On the other hand, for BFTech course admissions candidates need to appear for GAT exam only whereas for MFTech and MFM programmes candidates need to appear for GAT and GD/PI admission round.

The college infrastructure is great. The library is really good and has air conditioning. the college doesnt have sports centre or hostel. the canteen served food is fine. but there is not much cleanliness in the canteen. overall the college is fine except some issues.
