BCBR exam registration is done after successfully completing the BCBR course with minimum marks of 50% in assignments. Students can make BCBR registration for the upcoming exam, which is in July 2026, by filling up an online registration form and paying an examination fee prescribed by SWAYAM-NPTEL.

BCBR exams are conducted eight times a year in the months of March, April, May, July, August, September, November and December. Students can register for the BCBR exam in any month and earn an e-certificate.
Students who secure a minimum score of 50% in the final proctored BCBR exam are provided an e-Certificate with their name, photograph and the score obtained. The BCBR certificate is electronically verifiable at a designated web address. The authority does not issue hard copies of the BCBR certificate.
The participants who fail to secure the minimum score of 50% in the BCBR examination are not provided the e-Certificate. They have to re-register for the proctored examination at the next available date.
The online e-Certificate alone is accepted as proof of completion of the course.
The Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) is a mandatory course for postgraduate medical students and medical teachers in India. With this self-paced course, postgraduate medical students acquire the necessary skills and competency in research methods that is an integral part of postgraduate medical training. BCBR is mandatory for all PG students to complete by the end of the second semester of their course.
