    What is the pass mark for NPTEL exam out of 100?

    The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has announced the passing marks for the NPTEL result to be 40 per cent or above. Candidates who will secure the minimum marks of 40 per cent consist of 25 per cent of the assignment and 75 per cent of the written exam. The NPTEL certificate will display Elite + Gold, or Elite, or Successfully Completed.

Whether a student qualifies as a topper depends on two main factors: the total number of certified candidates in the course and the student's final score.

    To qualify for a topper recognition, a student must first achieve an Elite status (a final score of ≥60). The number of toppers is then calculated based on the size of the certified student body:

    • 10 or fewer certified candidates: Only 1 topper is recognised
    • 11 to 50 certified candidates: 2 toppers are recognised
    • 51 to 100 certified candidates: 5 toppers are recognised
    • More than 100 certified candidates: Toppers are assigned based on percentages (1%, 2%, and 5%).
