How To Prepare For CUET 2023- Language Test

    • To improve your reading speed and comprehension, read three to four articles or editorials per day from reliable sources. It is the most crucial thing to complete while getting ready for a language test. Your reading speed will be an asset in all sections of the paper, particularly in the theoretical ones. Additionally, it will cut down on the time you spend reading a question.
    • Summarise the passage you just read in one line. Your comprehension and retention will both benefit from it.
    • Up to the tenth grade, read and put grammar principles into practice.
    • Concentrate on your vocabulary; you need to be familiar with all of the words you encounter as well as their synonyms, antonyms, and sentence usage.
    • Grammar and vocabulary may make up about half of the paper in your language. About 24 to 25 of the questions will be about reading comprehension, and the remaining 50 percent will probably be about grammar ideas.
    • Practice four reading comprehension questions and 20 to 30 grammar-based questions every day.

Approximate time to prepare for the language test - 2 hours per day.

How To Prepare For CUET 2023- Domain Test

    • Read textbooks to lay a solid foundation for CUET domain test. You must go over each and every topic once.
    • Every day, read three to five chapters.
    • Attempt topic-wise or chapter-wise MCQs. Each topic or chapter has a large number of MCQs available on various websites.
    • Make chapter-specific, no longer than two pages, handwritten or typed revision notes. It will make you remember the important points or most interesting incidents that happened in that chapter. Do not use pre-written notes that are available online; instead, create these notes on your own.

Approximate time to prepare for domain test - 3 hours per domain/at least 2 domains per day

How To Prepare For CUET 2023- General Test

    • The CUET general test covers quantitative aptitude (QA) and logical reasoning (LR) up to 8th grade.
    • Quantitative Aptitude - glance through the topics covered till 8th grade. Be focused in your efforts
    • Focus on shortcut tricks - memorise reciprocals, squares, cubes, and multiplication tables to keep your calculations easy when it comes to profit and loss, percentages, simple interest, compound interest, averages, etc.
    • Logical reasoning - acquaint yourself with the types of questions based on coding, decoding, family relationships, etc.
    • Practise a minimum of 50 questions per day for QA and LR.

Approximate time to prepare for the general test - 1 to 1.5 hours.

How To Prepare For CUET 2023- Current Affairs

    • You must focus on current affairs from the past one year. The general trend of exams has been that questions have been asked for the past one year.
    • Some questions might be of a static nature. "Static" means the data or answers that can never be changed. It is known as static GK.
    • However, there is no limit to reading current affairs for CUET 2023, anything under the sun can be asked in the exam.

How To Prepare For CUET Exam- Full-Length Mocks

    • Take a mock test on alternate days. Do it the same way you would for the CUET test.
    • Analyse the mock in detail. If you are not analysing the result, then there will not be any considerable improvement in your weak spots and all the subsequent mock tests will be pointless. Analyse = Practising + understanding your strengths and weakness. While it's acceptable to make mistakes, try not to repeat them.
    • Create a table for analysis with three columns for the total number of attempted questions, correct answers, and incorrect answers. Indicate in those columns how many questions had correct answers and how many had incorrect ones.
    • Analyse your incorrect answers, identify the weak spots and focus on those chapters.
    • By taking just one mock, you cannot determine the trend of your improvement. So, you should take at least three to five mock tests.
    • Know your strengths and leverage them. Attempt questions from the chapters you are good at.
    • Practise those mock tests that have the same format and are given at the same time of the day at which the actual CUET is scheduled. In this way, your mind will be prepared to take on challenges and work efficiently at that particular time. Build that habit.
    • Build your physical and mental endurance. Make sure you will be able to sit for the duration of the exam comfortably and that your mind won't get tired. Build that habit. So, take enough mock tests to make your body attuned to that particular sitting time and your mind will remain active at the same time.
    • At the same time you cannot afford to be tired after finishing one section or subject.
    • So, pace yourself, schedule enough mock tests, at least one mock per day, and analyse in detail to learn.

How To Attempt MCQs - Overall Strategy For CUET

    • Use the ABC method: In this method, questions are divided into three categories:

A - Abhi Karo (Do it now): - when you know the answer to a question just by looking at it.

B - Baad me Karo (Do it later): when you are not sure of the answer or it has been slipped for some time or you know the answer but need some time to solve it, then mark it for review to solve later after solving the A category questions.

C - Chhod do (Leave the question immediately and move on to the next)

    • Why is the ABC method helpful? Because you have to attempt only 40 out of 50 which means you have 10 questions to be left unattempted.

    • So, there is no need to attempt all 50 questions because there is negative marking as well. Your competition is not just with everyone who is sitting beside you and taking the exam. Around 10 lakh students registered for the CUET exam, and they are going to compete with you. You need to do better than everyone else. If the paper is actually difficult and everybody is unable to get more than 35, then you can be the topper only with 35 correct questions. So, you should know what questions are to be attempted and also what not to be attempted.
    • If you want to try any strategies, try them in mock tests before the actual exam so that you can find out what works. Master the method in the mock tests and only then apply it to the actual test. For example, the ABC method will not work for you if you have not practised it.
    • In a 45 minutes session: The first iteration of category A must be finished within 30 minutes. Try to Attempt 20 to 25 questions in the first pass-through.
    • The second iteration of category B, which you have marked for review, must be finished within 15 minutes.
    • Read the questions carefully and don't miss out on the words like NOT, always, except, maybe, can be, should be, etc.
    • Do not rush to mark the options and read all the given options, such as all of the above and none of the above.
    • Context-based memory - especially in theoretical subjects such as Psychology, History, Business Studies, etc. If you know the context of what is happening in the given image, you will be able to answer the question very quickly. So, focus on images, you should know what the author is trying to say and build your context-based memory.
    • Look for the overall tone of the questions and options. For example, is the question in a positive tone but some options have a negative tone? So, very often they are not the answers and that is how you can start eliminating the options. If you are able to eliminate 3 out of 4 options, then your job is done and thus you really don't need to calculate or find out the answers.
    • Remember there is a difference between reaching the correct answer by doing calculations and selecting the correct option. So, focus on the correct option.
    • Substitute options back into questions and see if they satisfy the questions. This will help in mathematics, LR, QA, general tests and history.
    • Try your best to prove an option incorrect rather than otherwise.
    • In the match questions, if you know only one correct match and there is only one right combination given in the options of that particular match then your job is done. Mark the correct answer and move on to the next. Sometimes you don't need to know all 4 correct matches.
