    About HNBGU Garhwal

Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Sri Nagar was established in 1973 as one of the state universities in India. The establishment of the university reflects the birth of a popular movement of the masses of the Garhwal region who strived for development through higher education in the mountainous region. The university finally came into being to address problems of rural backwardness, social-economic and geographical constraints and laying the foundation for empowerment of future generations.

HNB Garhwal University, Sri Nagar, was converted to one of the central universities in India in 2009. This not only improvised the overall status of the university but also shouldered more responsibilities to impart quality education and work on the all-round development of its students. The historical backdrop of the inception of HNB Garhwal University has made the university prioritize its commitment towards regional development and expansion of its outreach. The university receives applications from students from all over the country. The university has grown to three campuses – Birla Campus, BGR Campus, and SRT Campus. The main focus points of the university remain delivery of excellent higher education nationally as well as areas that are backward; to impart teaching through various courses at UG and PG level, and to promote and develop higher education as much as possible.

    HNBGU Garhwal Scholarship
