St Joseph's College of Engineering (SJCE), Chennai was established in 1994 by St. Joseph’s Group of Institution. The college is affiliated to Anna University and is accredited by NAAC. - Entrepreneurship and Development Cell: The ED Cell of SJCE was established with the objective of creating, fostering and promoting the spirits of entrepreneurship among the students. The objective of the cell is to provide various information with reference to starting a business to budding student entrepreneurs and to create an entrepreneurial culture among students. It fosters better linkages between industries and R and D activities of the college and promotes innovation through the establishment of incubation centers. The cell regularly organizes camps, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and other developmental programmes.
- Advisory Bureau for Higher Studies (ABHS): The objective of this cell of SJCE is to serve the student community for getting admission to higher studies in India and abroad and enable them to prepare for tests like GRE, TOEFL, GMAT, IELTS, GATE, CAT, etc
- Cambridge ESOL: ESOL offers Business English Certificate (BEC). The certificate is given for the specialization in English for work, whether it is an industry, business or government. BEC gives an opportunity to learn practical language skills as in the workplace.
- Career Lab: This is a digital programme of SJCE that teaches public speaking, facing interviews, group discussion, resume preparation and assertiveness is the career lab.
- Campus Coaching Classes: SJCE provides training classes for GATE on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, whereas GRE, TOEFL & CAT classes are conducted after the regular class hours on the remaining weekdays.
- Quality Improvement Cell: This cell of SJCE works in collaboration with IIT Bombay and Anna University and conducts an online workshop that covers Free Online Software Source (FOSS) such as Latex, Java, C/C++, Open foam, Scilab, PHP, Python, etc
- Technical Workshop: The college organises various workshops on current technologies in association with reputed industries as well as with student chapter organizations to impart necessary skills for the best transition from an engineering student to an engineering professional.
- Alumni Association: Alumni association meets once a year. Alumni who are working in the companies regularly inform the college about the requirements of the companies.
- NCC: NCC fortifies character, command, and discipline among the students. It provides framing for a career in the forces. NCC Cadet Crop of SJCE organises and trains youth and provides leadership in all walks of life including the Armed and Navy forces. It also creates a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the armed forces.
- NSS: With this purpose in mind, NSS volunteers of SJCE conduct a variety of activities, such as orphanage visits, awareness programs, and health camps. In addition, the NSS holds annual camps in a rural location, where students assist the residents in the development of their village.
Youth Red Cross: The vision of the Youth Red Cross is to become a leading humanitarian organization serving vulnerable people. The members of the club regularly take part in the various events and promote humanitarian services in society.
Maths Club: The objectives of this club of SJCE is to remove Mathematics phobia and inculcate interest in Mathematics. The club develops abstract, logical and critical thinking and provides a platform for students to raise their queries and share their inputs on questions of mathematical origin and significance that lie outside the purview of the present academic syllabus.
Dance Club: The club aims at exploring and expanding the knowledge of classical and other schools of dance. It aims at creating awareness among the students and to create a newer perspective and ensure overall development.

SJCE Admission Process
St Joseph's College of Engineering courses are offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. As per the St Joseph's College of Engineering admission process, for B.Tech candidates need to appear for the state level counselling - Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by Anna University. The single window counselling and admission is based on the merit of the qualifying examination. There is no entrance test for participating in the TNEA counselling. SJCE Admission Procedure for B.E & B.Tech Programmes:
Candidates have to register and apply online on the website of Anna University for SJCE admission.
Admission will be offered based on the merit of the marks in the qualifying exam.
Candidates have to participate in the single widow counselling process - TNEA Counselling conducted by Anna University and select St Joseph's College of Engineering as their first preference.
Based on participation in TNEA counselling, document verification and fee payment, candidates will be offered admission.
SJCE Admission Procedure for M.E/M.Tech/MBA Programmes:
Students need to apply and appear for the entrance examination - (TANCET), conducted by Anna University.
For ME/M. Tech, candidates with valid GATE score are eligible for direct admission and they need not appear for TANCET.
Further, as per the SJCE admission process, candidates have to participate in the TANCET counselling based on the ranking in the entrance examination, document verification and fee payment
Final SJCE admission will be confirmed on the basis of marks secured in TANCET, participation in the counselling process, document verification and fee payment

SJCE Chennai has the facilities of the library, hostel for boys and girls, canteen, mess, health care. The college also provides facilities for sports, gym, ATM and transportation. The clubs, cells and societies of the college empower students in various academic and extra-curricular activities:
Library: The library of SJCE has a vast collection of volume, which includes textbooks, reference books & Bound volumes of Journals, Standards, etc. Books are arranged and classified according to the Universal Decimal Classification Scheme. Open Access System is followed in the library. The library is also equipped with a number of Educational Video / Audio Cassettes and CDs on Science and Engineering.
Boys Hostel: SJCE hostel for boys is located on the campus and is equipped with all the infrastructure facilities. Single room accommodation is given to the final years and PG Students.

Both st. Joseph and Loyola icam are good college and ranking wise st.joseph is a better college. Moreover the placement is also good in both of them. Prefer st.joseph over Loyola and in both of the colleges the placement will be in cs and it sectors. But choose the college as per nirf ranking.
