Hello dear student !
Respiratory quotient (RQ) , which is also known as respiratory ratio is basically defined as the volume of Carbon dioxide released over the volume of Oxygen absorbed during respiration. It is dimensionless number. The RQ value for carbohydrates is 1.0 whereas for proteins it is 0.8 .
