Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering is a four-year (8 semesters) full-time undergraduate program offered by the Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai.

Mechanical engineering department was started in the year 1983. B.Tech Programme in Mechanical Engineering got accredited five times by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Delhi since 1998. However, four times under Tier-II category and first time under Tier-I (in 2019) category, while the institute has been awarded 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2017. The department imparts the skills and expertise in the areas of design, manufacturing and thermal sciences that are the backbone of most sectors of industry. The department is committed to provide quality education in mechanical engineering that enables students to achieve excellence in their field of specialization. It strives to ensure an academic ambience that is important for encouraging the culture of research, development and innovation amongst students.

Eligibility Criteria

Passed HSC or its equivalent examination from India, with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects (Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biology/Technical Vocational subjects) and obtained at least 45% marks in the above subjects taken together

And

The candidate should have appeared for Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) 2023/ SAT 2024, JEE-Main (Session 1 and 2) 2024, Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2024, MHT-CET 2024, and PERA-CET 2024 and should obtain a non-zero score in this qualifying examination
Any other criterion declared from time to time by the Admitting Authority - Somaiya Vidyavihar University.

Admission Details

A candidates will be eligible to apply if she/he has a non-zero score for Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) / JEE-Main (Paper-1) /PERA CET / MHT-CET examination.

There are following phases of admissions:

Phase 1 based on Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)
Phase 2 based on JEE Main Best of Two
Phase 3 based on JEE Main Best of All
Phase 4 based on PERA-CET
Phase 5 based on MHT-CET

College Infrastructure

The college infrastructure is top notch with all the necessary facilities ranging from high speed internet throughout the college premises, classrooms projectors, laboratories equipped with latest instruments etc. The campus also consists of a football ground, tennis court, basketball court, cricket ground, two hostels, amphitheatre, and a number of college canteens. The campus is always well maintained and is an ideal place for all round development.

College Infrastructure

Yes,all the necessary infrastructure,facilities and equipment are available.In every classroom there are smart boards and the WiFi works great . Everything here is used and well maintained.Living spaces is clean and the food here is good and hygienic.

I am from somaiya campus and I am very much proud to say that. Somaiya college have great infrastructure with all necessary day to day requirements of the student. Faculty of the somaiya is like one big family where they help you not only by professionally but personally also they provide guidelines. Facilities in somaiya is the world-class level where you get your needful things. Somaiya library and laboratories are well maintained for the student to gain more knowledge. Best in everything
