    Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi College of Engineering, was established in the year 2006. Located at Kegaon, in Maharashtra, this college is built on 10 acres of space, located beside Solapur National Highway. BIGCE is an affiliated college, approved by AICTE, and offering various types of courses in engineering. The institute provides a conducive environment for quality education. It takes a total student enrolment of 185 and has a faculty strength of 46. BIGCE offers 10 courses across 4 degrees: B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, and Diploma programs, in a variety of engineering specializations.

At the undergraduate level, the institute imparts 6 B.Tech Programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. It further offers concrete ME Programs in Water Resource Engineering and MCA at the postgraduate level. BIGCE further runs Diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is the highest in intake with 120 seats.

    Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi College of Engineering (BIGCE) Solapur offers a broad spectrum of engineering programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma levels. The BIGCE admission process aims to choose meritorious candidates through several national and state-level entrance examinations. In undergraduate programs, BIGCE considers the scores of JEE Main and MHT CET primarily. In addition, the college ranks other entrances, such as JEE Advanced, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, BITSAT, and WBJEE, with some acceptance of their scores. Thus, admission of students is fairly open, with considerations for various pathways of entry.  Admission cycles normally fall in the same calendar year starting around August-September. 

    The admission processes for the B.Tech programs are contingent on the relative performance in the entrance examination conducted and Class XII marks obtained by the candidate. With respect to lateral entry stream B.Tech programs, the college offers six programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. Postgraduate admissions for ME and MCA are governed by the graduation scores along with the entrance test, in their respective subjects. The programs of ME Water Resource Engineering and MCA are offered at BIGCE.

    Application Process

    Application processing for BIGCE varies per program:

    B-tech programs:

    1. Sit for JEE Main or MHT CET examinations.
    2. Visit the official BIGCE website and fill the online application.
    3. Make the concerned application fee.
    4. Submit the duly filled application along with the required documents.
    5. Wait for merit lists or call letters for further admission processes.

    For ME and MCA programs:

    1. Qualifying the relevant entrance examination for the chosen program;
    2. Fill in the BIGCE application form available on the official website;
    3. Pay the application fee as directed by the institution;
    4. Submit the application form along with the necessary documents.
    5. Subsequently, the shortlisted candidates may be called for further processes such as the interview or counselling.

    Commonly required documents to be submitted for admission:

    • Entrance score card (JEE Main/MHT CET/other accepted exams)
    • Class 10 and class 12 mark sheets and certificates
    • Graduation mark sheets and degree certificate (for postgraduate courses)
    • Caste certificate (if applicable)
    • Domicile certificate (if required)
    • Recent passport-size photographs
    • Any other document as specified by the institute at the time of admission

    Degree-wise Admission Process

    B.Tech.-Admission to B.Tech. programs is primarily based on the JEE Main and MHT CET scores. BIGCE has six B.Tech. specializations with different intake capacities: Computer Science and Engineering (120 seats), Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (30 seats), Civil Engineering (54 seats), Biomedical Engineering (54 seats), Electrical Engineering (30 seats), and Mechanical Engineering (54 seats).

    The minimum eligibility is passing the 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

    M.E.: BIGCE admits classes in ME Water Resource Engineering for 9 seats. Admission is on the basis of valid entrance exam scores and graduation scores in the relevant field.

    M.C.A.: The Master of Computer Applications program admits 60 students. Admission criteria require graduation score, along with entrance exam performance.

    Diploma: A diploma program is available for Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, each having approximately 30 seats each. The admission process for diploma courses may differ from that of degree programs and takes place on the basis of the state-level diploma entrance exam.
