Vidyavardhini Institute of Technology (VVIT), Kolhapur, is an AICTE-approved institute granting diploma programs in all engineering disciplines through a simple admission process laid by the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, located in Mumbai. The admission procedure at VVIT is made easy for the convenience of applicants since this all focuses on the candidates appearing for the qualifying examinations' performance.

The general time frame for starting admissions for the academic year would typically commence during August or September. However, these dates may vary from year to year; hence, prospective students are suggested to keep themselves posted ahead in time. There are 10 diploma courses offered by VVIT; among them, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering are five of the prime engineering disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria, For one to be eligible for admission into diploma programs, the candidates must successfully complete his/her education in 10+2 or any other equivalent examination from a recognized board. The main selection criteria would be the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination in subjects pertaining to the specific branch of engineering under consideration.

Application Process

1. Eligibility Check: Ensure you meet the standards set by the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education.

2. Application Form: Either online or on-site from the institute's admission office.

3. Document Preparation: Documentations due at admission:

   • Mark sheets of 10th and 12th standard

   • School leaving certificate

   • Domicile certificate (if applicable)

   • Caste certificate (if applicable)

   • Recent passport-size photographs

4. Form Submission: The duly completed application form with attached relevant documents should be submitted to the admission office of the institute.

5. Application Fee: The application fee must be paid, details whereof shall be notified by the institute.

6. Admission Test/Interview: VVIT mainly considers qualifying-exam-based marks, but certain programs conduct an admission test or interview.

7. Merit List: The merit list is going to be prepared based on the qualifying examination, followed by other tests/interviews wherever applicable.

8. Seat Allocation: The allocated seats will be based on the merit list and preferences given by the candidates to various diploma programs.

Degree-wise Admission Procedure

Diploma Programs: Five main diploma programs are provided by VVIT, with each admitting 60 students:

1. Diploma in Civil Engineering – This diploma program is directed toward civil construction and infrastructure development. Any candidate who possesses a high knowledge background of mathematics and physics may think of this course as well suited for him/her.

2. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering – This program deals with design, manufacture, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Candidates should possess physics-mathematics problem-solving know-how.

3. Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering – This program relates to dealings with electronic systems and communication technologies. Any such candidate who has an earnest interest in electronics and mathematics may apply.

4. Diploma in Computer Engineering – This course relates to computer hardware, software, and networking. Candidates with an affinity for programming and logical abilities would be best suited to this program.

5. Diploma in Electrical Engineering – An essential program related to various aspects of electrical systems and power distribution, this course is best suited for candidates strongly grounded in physics and mathematics.

All of the above-mentioned diploma programs also have a provision for lateral entry that allows 6 students per discipline. This provision becomes very vital for those students who have already undergone and passed the required qualification and wish to directly enter the second year of studies of the diploma program.
