Prachi Kumari 21st Dec, 2025

Hello,

Delhi School of Economics allows students who have studied mathematics either at 10+2 level or during graduation .

Even if you did +2 commerce without maths , your Business Mathematics in graduation is counted as a mathematics subject.

So, if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university

  • Business Mathematics or any maths paper in graduation

  • Required minimum marks in graduation

  • A valid CUET-PG score

Then you are eligible to apply for MA Economics at Delhi School of Economics.

Hope it helps !

What are soft core courses you provide in b. Ed students in your college especially for commerce students

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 16th Dec, 2025

In most B.Ed colleges, soft core courses are designed to support the main teaching subjects and to help students develop professional, pedagogical, and life skills. For B.Ed students, especially those with a commerce background, these soft core courses focus on both teaching competence and overall personality development.

Common soft core courses usually include educational psychology, which helps you understand student behaviour, learning processes, and classroom dynamics. This is very useful for commerce students who plan to teach subjects like Accountancy, Business Studies, or Economics. Another important area is pedagogy of school subjects, where you learn different methods and strategies to teach commerce-related topics effectively at the secondary and higher secondary levels.

Colleges also offer courses on educational technology and ICT in education. These help you use digital tools, presentations, online resources, and smart classroom techniques, which are highly relevant for modern commerce teaching. Soft skills development is another key component and includes communication skills, classroom management, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

Many B.Ed programs also include courses on guidance and counselling, inclusive education, and value education. These help future teachers support students academically and emotionally, and promote ethical values in the classroom. For commerce students, some colleges may offer electives or workshops related to financial literacy, entrepreneurship education, business communication, or basic economics in education, depending on the institution.

Overall, soft core courses aim to make you a confident, skilled, and student-friendly teacher rather than focusing only on subject knowledge. The exact list can vary from college to college, so it is always a good idea to check the detailed B.Ed curriculum of the specific institution you are applying to. All the best.
