Hey,
If we look at the expected cutoff ranges for government BHMS colleges under the All India Quota:
General category: around 490 to 510 marks (above 50 thousand rank)
OBC or EWS category: 470 to 490 marks
SC category: around 390 to 430 marks
ST category: around 350 to 400 marks
For private BHMS colleges:
General category: 300 to 400 marks (30th to 40th percentile)
OBC category: 280 to 380 marks
SC category: 220 to 300 marks
ST category: 200 to 280 marks
You should clearly understand the minimum marks required according to your category. I recommend checking your seat availability using this college predictor: medicine.careers360.com/neet-ayush-all-india-college-predictor
To get admission in BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery), you must crack the NEET UG exam. BHMS is a 5.5-year course including an internship, and admission is done through NEET, whether you are trying to get admission in a government college or a private college.
Let's talk about marks. It depends on many factors like your category, the state you belong to, the type of college government/private you are aiming for , and how much competition there is in that year .
Let's have a look at the previous year neet qualifying marks
General Category – Around 137 marks
OBC/SC/ST – Around 107 marks
General-PwD – Around 121 marks
These are the minimum marks just to qualify NEET, but to get a seat in BHMS, your score must be higher.
Marks You have to target For Government BHMS Colleges:
General: 350–420+ marks
OBC: 300–370+ marks
SC/ST: 250–320+ marks
As compared to private colleges, Government colleges have more competition because the fees are very low and the seats are limited.
For Private BHMS Colleges:
If you want to take admission in private colleges, you might get admission with a lower NEET score, like 150–250 marks. Some private colleges also offer management quota seats, where cut-offs are even lower.
Let's compare state-wise differences
Cut-off marks are not the same in every state. For example:
In states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar, the competition is high, so cut-offs are also higher.
In north-eastern or less populated states, sometimes even a score of 200-250 can get you a seat.
So it's better and safer to check your state’s counseling cut-off from the previous year to get a better idea.

Yes, students from Telangana (TS) have the opportunity to get an engineering seat in Andhra Pradesh (AP) by appearing in AP EAPCET, under the Non-local category. However, they cannot take seats under state quota (local seats), and can only qualify for 15% Unreserved (Non-local) seats in private colleges and some categories in university colleges. There will be no preference for students from Telangana, all admissions will be based on merit and availability of seats in that category.
