With a NEET UG AIR of 15,500, Maharashtra State Merit List (SML) rank of 1,200, and an open category state rank of 550, your chances in the second round of Maharashtra MBBS counseling for Mumbai colleges are realistic, given the reshuffling and vacancy movement that typically occurs after the first round. Many candidates with similar ranks secure seats as higher-ranked students vacate seats for other preferences or upgraded choices, leading to closing ranks dropping in popular colleges.
Here are some well-regarded Mumbai medical colleges where your rank typically falls within or close to the expected cutoff range for the second round:
Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai One of the most prestigious medical colleges in Maharashtra. While the first-round cutoff might be slightly higher, second round offers have historically included students in your merit range due to seat shuffling.
Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai Known for robust academics and clinical exposure, this college fills up quickly but sees moderate cutoff movement in subsequent rounds.
Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College (LTMMC), Sion, Mumbai Highly reputed for teaching and research, Sion Medical College nearly always has a few seats available in the second round, attracting candidates in top 700–1,300 state ranks.
Topiwala National Medical College (TNMC), Mumbai TNMC’s cutoff is sometimes marginally lower than the top three, making it a strong contender for round two admissions for candidates with ranks near yours.
Cooper Medical College, Mumbai Cooper is emerging in popularity and academic facilities; its cutoffs are slightly more relaxed, increasing your odds of allotment in second or mop-up rounds.
In the second round, closing ranks for these colleges often shift favorably due to reallocation and vacant seats. It's advisable to fill all possible options—including newer government and private colleges—through the counseling portal for the best chance at securing a seat.
Stay proactive by monitoring official counseling updates, cutoff notices, and filling a broad range of choices to maximize allotment probabilities.
Hey! With your NEET 2025 score of 446, being a 3B rural category student under HK quota, getting a government MBBS seat in Karnataka will be very tough. This is because the cutoff for government MBBS colleges, even for 3B category, is usually much higher than 446, often around 575–585 marks.
However, you still have options. You can try for private medical colleges, where the cutoff is lower, or consider other medical courses like BAMS, BHMS, BDS, or BPT. These courses are still in the healthcare field and have good career prospects.
If your goal is strictly MBBS in government colleges, you might need to prepare for the next NEET attempt to improve your score and rank. Meanwhile, exploring alternative medical courses can keep your career path in healthcare moving forward.
you can absolutely get into a good government medical college for mbbs in Karnataka through3b,rural and hk state quota. In previous years, candidates with scores in the low to mid-500s with this special reservation get the seat.

You cannot newly pay the caution deposit now to take part KEA Round 3.
KEA clearly states that only candidates who had already paid the 1 lakhs caution deposit during the Round 2 window are eligible for participation in Round 3 counselling .
If you missed paying it in round 2, you won't be allowed to enter round 3 by paying now.
hope this helps

Hey,
Yes, new registration for 2nd round in MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) NEET-UG counselling, is allowed. In first round you can do fresh registration+choice filling and in second round fresh registration is again allowed for those who have missed round one.
Yes, you can reattempt your 2nd PUC (Pre-University Course) exam next year in Karnataka if you have taken a drop for NEET 2026 and wish to improve your marks, especially in theory papers. Repeating the board exams is a common choice for aspirants who aim for better scores to meet eligibility requirements or boost NEET ranks.
Regarding internal assessments (practicals, project work, and assignments), Karnataka PU Board generally allows students to retain their previously scored internal marks when re-attempting 2nd PUC theory exams. If your internal marks are good, you do NOT have to appear for the internal assessments again; your earlier scores are carried forward to the next attempt. Only students who have failed to secure passing marks or did not complete their internal work may need to redo their internals, and this is usually communicated by the college or PU board.
The usual process involves applying as a repeat or private candidate for the next PUC exam cycle through your PU college or the official Karnataka Board portal. Keep an eye on official notifications for deadlines and the mode of application.
It’s highly recommended to confirm these details directly with your college’s exam cell or the Karnataka PU Board, as individual colleges may have slight variations in policy or require additional documentation.
In summary, Karnataka PU Board lets you reattempt your 2nd PUC theory exams next year while carrying forward good internal marks, making it easier for NEET aspirants who are repeating and want to improve just the board exam scores.
