Can u tell me the difference b/w the duration of mmbs course in a government and private medical college.Is rural service part of both?

Hello, the duration of MBBS course remains the same i.e 5.5 years irrespective to the type of college you get graduated from. Either government or private,the time period of course stays the same

I recently heard that there is no compulsion for rural service in case of private colleges but it is not the same case when it comes to government colleges.
Is that true? In that case the course must be of a shorter duration in private colleges.

Yes but since last year the rules have been updated, government authorities have made it compulsory part for private colleges also, to serve in rural areas or else they have to pay fine. So now both medical and private colleges have same structure of 5.5 years
