Firstly, final year students or candidates who have passed their bachelor's degree with at least 45- 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for CAT. As you are in 2nd year as of now, you cannot apply. Yes, you can apply in 2022. If you are applying next year make sure your latest semester score is not less than 50 percent.

Also, yes there is a provision for provisional admission at IIM's. In case a final year's student result is awaiting they need to get a certificate from the HOD or registrar or director of the university that the student is currently in final year and their result is waiting. Also the certificate has to mention the candidate has at least 50 percent marks in the latest semester or exam. If you are selected you will be provisionally admitted to the institute. Once you submit your marksheets and passed certificate ( or bachelor's degree completion certificate) your admission will be confirmed.

To be eligible for the CAT Exam, a candidate must have completed at least a Bachelor's degree. Graduation is the only criterion for taking admission in any B-school, while students in their last year of several bachelor's degree courses are also eligible for taking the CAT test. However, you will be admitted to the course only if you obtain a graduation grade of at least 50% (45% for reserved candidates) and do well in the various stages of the institute's selection process.

The only exception is that once the interviews are over, the college will normally request your graduation certificate/equivalent as confirmation of graduation. In the graduation section of the application, you will be asked whether you are in your last year or have completed your graduation. After you've chosen the first choice, all you have to do now is fill out the information about your undergrad. You must enter the bachelor's percent till the last semester.

Please keep in mind that final-year students may be admitted to the MBA programme on a provisional basis; however, these students must present their graduation passing certificate before September  (For you in sep-2023), If they fail to do so their admission stands cancelled.
