Course Overview

edX’s Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS): Part II programme is part 2 of the MBS Professional program developed by the New York Institute of Finance (NYIF). During the four-week duration of this course, you will learn the main differences between agency and non-agency collateralised Mortgage Obligations (CMOs). Plus, you will explore the purpose and structure for creating Platinum (GNMA), Megas (FNMA), and Giants securities (FHLMC).

With the help of the Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS): Part II online course, you will also study the important characteristics of the general kinds of tranches in agency CMOs. These include Targeted Amortisation Class (TAC) tranches, Planned Amortisation Class (PAC) tranches, and Z (accrual) bond tranches.

The Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS): Part II syllabus also includes concepts such as Hybrids (Hybrid Adjustable Rate Mortgages) and ARMs (Adjustable Rate Mortgages).
