It is true that more than 90+ percentage in academics will get call from IIM if they score 90+ percentile in CAT but Average academic record is not a barrier in getting IIM.your marks is not good but not that poor either try to score more than 99 percentile

Although your academic record is excellent but you did not SCORE well in CAT to get call from big IIM'S even if you have reserved category more than 92+ percentile needed for old IIM. however you can get call from new and baby IIMs like Amritsar, ROHTAK, NAGPUR.and for private

If by 3 chances you mean 3 years then As of now Any candidate can appear for jee mains for 3 consecutive years  from passing their class 12 boards. If you have exhausted all the attempts in the 3 years then you can not appear for jee mains
