See, your academics are the most problematic things, as with 75%, 87% in schooling (10th and 12th), and 75% in your graduation, you are in quite disadvantageous position. And since you are in B.Sc, you'll be counted in the same bucket as engineers, you you'll get no diversity points as well.

The best thing will be that you re-attempt CAT after getting some work experience, because workex is the only thing which can counter all the negative things in your CV. All the best!

Hi,

Both MDI Gurgaon and IIM Lucknow are top tier B-Schools of India and getting an oppurtunity to study in any of them is a blessing in disguise. However there are few differences in the courses we must consider:

Course details:

  • PGPM in MDI Gurgaon- PGPM Course is designed to nurture students and help build their managerial and leadership qualities. This programme helps understand social, economic, political and ecological environment of modern society. It helps students become leaders and think out of the box.
  • ABM in IIM Lucknow- The two-year Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management is a full -time residential course designed to develop agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs with vision, competence and appropriate attitude for promoting/ growing agribusiness and agro-based enterprises with a strong international orientation.

Think about your priorities clearly. If you want to contribute to the agro industries then definitely you should pursue ABM course. Else you can go for PGPM course.

Hi,

IIM Lucknow is one of the top B-Schools of India and it offers many courses. One of the unique courses is PGP in Agribusiness Management (ABM). It is a two year full time residential course designed to develop not only agribusiness leaders, but also entrepreneurs with a vision to promote agro-based businesses even internationally.

The admission process is as follows:

  • The CAT advertisement usually appears in the National dailies in the month of July or August.
  • Common Admission Test is a computer-based test (CBT). For more details about CAT.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for the interview on the basis of their performance in the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. Group discussions and interviews are then conducted at Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Hyderabad at the end of February onward. Final selection is based on performance in CAT, scholastic achievement, work experience, and performance in the group discussion and interview.

The detailed eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA
  • (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category) awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. Hi there,

In my opinion there are many students who will prefer IIM tag rather going for anything else. I think IIM tag is more pleasing and studying in it is very awesome. SP JAIN is one of the best B- schools in india. In fact, it is also comes equally with other IIMs.

Talking about which one is better, it totally depends on you. If you like finance related courses then SPJIMR is best. Otherwise you can go with IIM lucknow.

Placements: Placements depends upon the skills of the student. Definitely, SPJIMR provides decent placement offers but IIM lucknow is also very good. You will get ample of opportunities here. The batch size matters too, in SPJIMR the no. of students are lower than IIM lucknow. So, it  provides more flexibility to the students.

After all, i would suggest you go with SPJIMR because it provides decent placements offers than IIM lucknow and fees are almost same.

Hello Aspirant,

Sorry to inform you but you don't seem to have a decent academics to get calls from IIMs. Despite your OBC status, a score of 70% + in your academics along with 97/98 percentile could have helped you get a call from the baby IIMs too.

However don't get disheartened. Aim for 99 percentile. There might be chances of calls from the new IIMs or other equally good management colleges.

All the best for your future. Incase of any concerns, feel free to comment.

Hello Aspirant...

IIM L will proceed with the admission of only those candidates who secure 12 on 40 in PI.
