Questions related to Army Institute of Management, Kolkata
I want to know as my acads are pretty low 7/7/5.9 can i still aim for top IIMs and I dont have anything to show in my profile so please guide me which courses should I opt for and with my acads can I still make it to top IIMs.
I personally know a senior from my Institute, who inspite of being GEM (General-Engineer-Male) having 90/82/6.5 converted IIMC in 2020 after Securing 99.91 Percentile in CAT 2019 and had an excellent Interview and WAT Later on.
I would advise now to focus on stuffs you can change. Xth/XIIth/CGPA is something you cant change now, but you may still improve on 2 Aspects which will lead you to an IIM or for that purpose some good Management Institute.
1. Target anywhere above 99-99.5 Percentile. Isnt as easy to get on Paper and you need dedicated efforts.
2. Work on your Quantitative, Non Quantitative and PI Skills as well as imroving your Resume. Besides CAT Prep try adding Virtual Internships as well as Courses, Specializations & Projects which show your inclination towards Finance, Business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain and Management in General.
Take a CAT Training Program if required from some of the Good Coaching Institutions like TIME, Career Launcher or Virtually from Platforms like Unacademy. You need a Good Test Series as well as a comprehensive preparation for both CAT and the PI/WAT Procedures.
I believe with a good strategy, you will surely secure a seat in one of the Top 6 IIMs or for that instant, atleast in one of the NIRF Top 20 Management Institutions having neck to neck placements, faculty and infrastructure. Do apply for Management School of Old IITs as they have an excellent ROI, as well as appear for XAT and MAT as they too are Gateways to many Good B Schools.

which field of medicine or surgery is better opthalmology or orthopaedic s I am confused what to aim at
Good evening. Hope you are doing well.
Ophthalmology is all about the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related deformities or diseases through surgical treatment or prescribing spectacles. There are many job opportunities in this field.
- Ophthalmology Surgeon
- Professor or Lecture
- ENT Specialist
- Clinical Assistant
- Medical Consultant
The total salary is around Rs. 9 Lacs per year in this field. You can also work in NGOs, missionary hospitals and charitable hospitals. You can do higher studies and you have to gather some experience for working as a faculty in government and private medical colleges. If you practice privately, you will get additional benefits. You will also get paid holidays and vacations, health insurance and pension plans.
Orthopedic is all about the treatment of musculoskeletal system. It is a great field. There are many job opportunities. Such as,
- Orthopedic surgeon
- Physical Therapist
- Orthopedic Nurse
- Sports Medicine Physician
There are also some working areas in this field. Such as, Orthopedic distributors for surgery and musculoskeletal Products. The average salary is around 5 lacks in this field.
There are also some disadvantages in Ophthalmology. You have to do at least four years of college and then more years of medical school and several more years with an internship and residency. Besides these, You must pass a series of medical licensing test that can very pricey.
Both of the fields have great demand. I can not tell you which one is best. You have to think about which one suits you. You have to decide your own. I can only show you the path. Please choose your dream. You must go with the field of your interest. One is eye related and the other one is related to the bones and muscles. Think properly. You will get your answer. You may touch your dream. Go ahead. I wish you all the very best for your upcoming future. You have to think about which you like the most. If you want to work with eye, you should go with Ophthalmology. Otherwise, Orthopedic is a better choice.
