XLRI HR- a program that needs no introduction. Check credentials of HRs of big corporates and you will find a common thread- PM & IR from XLRI (now called PGDHRM). Living true to its stature, the program offers a roller coaster ride with a range of testing but enriching courses, broadening your horizon in multiple dimensions. Adequate support by esteemed faculties ensures that each student finds his/her way through and make the most of the courses, without being spoon-fed. And enabling infrastructure and lively campus assure you of a great time beyond regular classes. An experience worth living through!

As an established B-school, it is no surprise that XL offers the best in terms of faculty, infrastructure and placements. I am sure most top b schools would offer that. What struck a chord with me is the campus life, an outcome of people and the place, Jamshedpur. Far from the bustling urban expanses of Bangalore, Mumbai or Kolkata, this quaint little city has little to offer in terms of urban escapes. A natural outcome of that being the close-knit relationships one forges with batch mates, something I would cherish for the rest of my life.

Best college for human resource management

Posted on 31 Aug' 16 by Arushi Jain
Batch of 2017 | PGDM Human Resource Management
A well-known college with very old heritage and culture which brings the big alumni network. XL boasts of extremely talented faculty with a saga of each of their own. The student committees are worth mentioning with their legacies and new innovative events and competitions. A beautiful campus, with festive culture celebrations and interactive and intelligent student, crowds it readies you for the life ahead. The few problems it might entail is the high cost associated with the main courses plus a hectic schedule which can be difficult to handle for some. But if you see return wise it fares at par if not better than cost and the rigour prepared you for actual management lifestyle.

Library facility with all good books, online journals, reading rooms and calm ambiance. Spacious classrooms, experienced faculties, good placement cell, industry interface, corporate talks are the major exposure students receive here. Group projects, live consulting projects, green campus, cycle rides, gyms, good canteen facilities add flavor to our life. Very good placement records from good private sectors firms with paid internship.

Had an awesome learning experience with best of professors

Batch of 2017 | PGDM Human Resource Management
The college infrastructure is the best in the country. It is unmatched. The rooms, boards, tables , chairs, projector screens, mikes and other electronic gadgets with superior lighting and spacious rooms with AC makes it the best. The college has been maintained aesthetically, and in the night, is a sight to see! The campus is spacious and has generous amount of lawns and greenery around, making it a perfect place for students and professors having families, to live. There are a lot of guest speakers with CEOs, CHROs and Directors of top companies visiting the campus quite often. There is this constant challenge for a student to excel in academics, sports and cultural activities, a person can basically customize his/her experience on campus based on their priorities! Hostel is pretty modern and well maintained. It is on single occupancy and very spacious and well furnished with proper beds, study tables, chairs , cupboards, bookshelves etc. To keep the mosquitoes away, windows have been provided with nets. Students here are from every background that one can imagine , and hence , there is no dearth of friends that one can make on campus! It is this rich experience which we share with like minded people, who are here based on merit , unlike other institutions where quota brings in a significant chunk of non-performers, this is something which makes XLRI stand apart from all other institutions. Similar fees is being charged in other colleges, but the quality of teaching , infrastructure , pedagogy and challenging student life is worth the money that you pay

2 years at XL- a memory to cherish and a love for life

There are two computer labs with state of art facilities and equipped with latest computers. There are big parks inside the campus and the entire campus is in a green cover. There are around 80 cycles provided by the college for the students to commute to different places in the campus. There is space and court for every outdoor sport except hockey within the campus and all facilities are provided for all indoor games. There are reputed companies coming to the college to give talks and most often top leaders come to give seminars to speak about the changing trends in the industry. The college administration ensures that there is a task force of students working in this direction and there is a faculty to oversee and help them in case needed. My life has been simply wonderful due to the interaction with the people here. The quality of students here is extremely good and I have made very good friends. The facilities provided to pursue one's interests are awesome and there is no dearth of activities to do. It is said that XL never sleeps. I was placed at Spencer's retail for my summer internship and final placements have not begun yet. We have separate gyms with state of art facilities for senior and junior batches, a co-hostel with single occupancy for all juniors and separate single occupancy hostels for the senior batch. Every room is equipped with furniture and broadband LAN facility. The entire campus is wi-fi enabled. Many of the professors here have written books which are used throughout the top b schools in India and abroad. Some of them have been faculties in reputed foreign universities as well. The intellectual level of student is of very high quality as I see. I have some very good friends who are helping and understanding. The college is very costly in terms of fees and it is around 20 lacs for two years. Though it is at par with other top B schools still it is too much for an average middle class family.

Xlri is one of those few business schools that allow you to develop team skills and not get lost in the rat race. If there is one thing that differentiates XLer's from the rest, it has to be their superior softer skills. XL life gives you ample opportunity to develop your skills in mutiple areas be it academics, extra-curriculars, paper-writing skills, etc. The small batch ensures that we stay close to each other and know each other by first names. This closeness has helped seamless knowledge transfer across batches. Its not that XLRI doesn't have it's share of misgivings. The Administration could have been more helpful, the library can also improve, the faculty also needs a facelift, but these are problems that are there in all institutes, XLRI being no exception. Yes, we may not be getting the best placements, but here at XLRI, we know we are good but have to improve in certain areas. We are gearing ourselves to meet the future challenges in front of us!!

One of the top 4 B-schools of India . Best of Best Teachers, High-quality students and Good Placements. It is India's oldest B-school and also known to be "Asia's best HR school"other management courses are also good but HR is what it offers in best possible manner. Being from Delhi, it was really difficult for me to adjust in town like Jamshedpur as there are no good places to hang around also. Proud to be a MBA grad from XLRI......

Situated in Jamshedpur, XLRI is known for its culture, the incomparable bonding between the juniors, seniors and alums. One of the best minds in the country are teaching the subjects. Almost all the top FMCG firms like HUL, Pepsi, and Nestle etc. come for recruitment as well as top financial firms like Goldman Sachs, Nomura, and HSBC etc. Consulting too has witnessed firms like BCG, Mc Kinsey, AMC, PWC, Delloitte in the past and is expecting a revisit from them over and over again. XLRI takes students through XAT which is followed by a GD-PI process.

XLRI - Two years of heaven

They say that if it is not on Google, then it doesn’t exist. XLers beg to differ here. You can find several mentions of XL culture on Google but rarely any illustrations on what exactly is XL Culture because from day 1, XLers take the vow “whatever happens in XL, stays in XL”. So what exactly is this XL culture? Initially it is mostly about slogging whole night for a place in the coveted committees and then on handling their voluminous work. There are some top notch clubs and committees like Ensemble Core Committee, MAXI, CRUX, Sapphire, Fireax, Sportscom, etc. XL follows a policy of no reservation and that is why the academic rat race is ruthless. But what makes this rat race more awesome is the faculty, since most of the classes end with the students giving a standing ovation to the teacher because of his or her stellar lecture and the wonderful insights gained. But B-school life is much beyond academics and committee work. Let’s explore. At any point of time you can find a healthy group of people gorging on delicious chicken cheese paranthas at Bishu Da’s or grabbing a quick bite between lectures at Dadu’s or maybe humming a tune under the Bodhi Tree. The pool tables, basketball courts and TT boards are always occupied. Even if you go beyond the campus to famous food joints like Little Italy, Novelty or Brubeck, you can still find a XL crowd. Placements form an important part of any B-School. If you have made it to XL, you will definitely make it to a top notch company. But this placement season is the time when the bond between seniors and juniors develop over sleepless nights of excitement and anxiety. From feeding you to taking care of all your possible needs, it’s the duty of the other batch. It is an experience to cherish throughout your life. Beyond these, there are many things that define an XLer. But for that you need to be a part of that brigade because as mentioned earlier, “whatever happens in XL, stays in XL”.

XLRI is the oldest B-school in India, and it has built a great name on the basis of churning out the very best people year on year, who carry the XL values with them. The campus life is buzzing, and though hectic, is part of the charm of the college. The XLCulture is something that you carry on throughout your life. The alumni who come back almost always talk about the two most wonderful years they spent here. Considering their positions, and their work, its an extremely huge compliment to XL as an institute, and what it adds to people's lives. In the end, joining XL was one of the best decisions I ever took, and II continue to enjoy the warmth of this fruitful institution.

XLRI Jamshedpur is undoubtedly one of the best b schools in the country and the oldest as well. In terms of infrastructure, the new campus built on the far side of the college can't be matched. Brilliant faculty and great placements. The only disadvantage is the location. There is no airport in Jamshedpur. And the quality of students is one of a kind. Those who have taken XAT would agree any day that it is better than other competitive exams.
