Who is Eligible for NPTEL Internships 2026?

Professors generally prefer for candidates for NPTEL internships who have topped in the recent semesters and not the previous to previous semesters. Check the detailed eligibility criteria for NPTEL internship below:

• NPTEL course toppers and candidates passing the certification exam in the Elite-Gold category are only eligible to apply for NPTEL internships.
• NPTEL internships are considered for students who have passed the NPTEL certification exam and for faculty members only.

NPTEL internships are allowed only in-person. However, virtual internships are provided according to the feasibility for the PwD candidates and faculty members who cannot avail leave from their workplace.

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria for the NPTEL internships beforehand to avoid any discrepancies. Those who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria will be considered eligible for NPTEL internships.

NPTEL Internship Duration

The duration of NPTEL internships is 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks. The course instructor decides the NPTEL internship duration, which depends on the nature of the internship and the availability of all other logistics.

The NPTEL internship start date will also be decided by the NPTEL course instructor based on the mutual convenience of the selected candidates.

How to Apply for NPTEL Internships 2026?

NPTEL internships are offered each semester after the declaration of NPTEL results. The course toppers and students who have passed the NPTEL certification exam with the Elite Gold category get contacted by the NPTEL officials regarding internships.

Interested candidates will be informed for the internships through email with the detailed application process and the internship schedule. The eligible candidates must check their academic calendar, get the consent of their college authorities and apply online with the following documents:

• Resume
• Last 2-semester grade cards
• Statement of purpose
• NPTEL course certificate

NPTEL Internships Selection Process 2026

The selection of candidates for the NPTEL internship is made by the course instructor. Candidates will get 4-5 Google forms from NPTEL at different intervals one after the other and they have to clear the first level to go into the other.

The selection is done based on the documents submitted by the candidates or a personal interview, or any other suitable method as per the course instructor. If a candidate is selected, he or she will receive an email by the professor. This is how the candidates know that they are selected and the leftover process now is administrative.

After receiving the offer letter, at the first day of the offline internship, candidates are supposed to fill a Google form and meet the NPTEL Local chapter leading person (SPOC).

NPTEL Internship 2026: Accommodation Facility

NPTEL tries to arrange accommodation for the interns within the institute premises. However, it does not guarantee. Candidates have to arrange for their own accommodation outside. The local NPTEL offices at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and IISc Bangalore can assist the candidates in finding suitable outside accommodation, if required.

What After the completion of NPTEL Internship?

NPTEL internship is completed when the internee uploads their report with all the things which have been done in the internship. Those who completed the NPTEL internship will get the stipend amount and the certificate of completion.

The candidate has to submit the final report to the Professor for approval on successful completion of the internship. The approved report is to be shared with the NPTEL office along with a passport size photograph of the candidates.

The certificate of NPTEL internship is issued to the candidates based on the regularity of the candidate and the feedback received from the course instructor and stipend processed.
