Hello Aspirant,
See both the professions mentioned by you play different roles and they both have good career opportunities in their own field. So here what matters is your interest like if you are good in teaching and you have interest in teaching then definitely you should go with an assistant professor post but if you like to write content and you have good interest in it then you can also make your good career in the field of content writing.
To make you more clear let me discuss some of the career opportunities for both the fields :-
@Content Writing
>>>>> Freelancer, you can work as a freelancer like you can create your own website or you can start your own blog and post the content of any particular niche.
>>>>> Content development specialist who works on the trending topics and create content strategies to promote their content.
>>>>> Web content manager like you can work for SEO of websites and can get paid for them with very decent amount.
@Assistant professor
After being an assistant professor you got an only option that is to teach in the colleges/universities and where after promotion you will get higher posts like of professor.
So in broad prospect, content writing is the field where there is lot of money and there is no any fixed amount because through your content you can generate lot of revenue but being an assistant professor you will be confined in a limited pay but if your interest is in teaching then this profession can also pays you well.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck!!
Greetings,
If you have a seven-year teaching experience as an assistant professor in any college or university for the subject of sociology and then pursue a PhD then most probably you will be granted the post of an Associate Professor. However, you can pursue your PhD even without taking a leave from your teaching job.
Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
For being a Assistant professor in UGC colleges, You should have a SET/SLET, NET certificates and have a Masters degree since it is mandatory as per the ugc guidelines.
However, your computer knowledge depends on the subject you might be teaching and there is as such no criteria regarding the computer knowledge as far as you are not related to any computer science courses.
All the best.
Glad to know you choose such a reputed job for future.there are several exams in india to become assistant professor in india.to pursue your career as a professor you need to pass exam conducted in india.
One of the popular test is ugc NET if you qualify this exam you get ugc certificate and you can apply for interview for assistant professor in university/college across country.minimum eligibility criteria for this exam is 55 percent in master degree in any stream.
next exam is SLET.it is state level test if you clear this exam then you can eligible for applying in state university.
NTA conducted CSIR NET for the students of science stream.it determine the eligibility of student for assistant professor and shortlist candidate to award jrf.
You can apply for ugc net only with the subject you pursue in your master degree.for example if you choose mba then you have to take management subject in net exam.you cannot take biotechnology.
you definitely take net exam after your master degree.Decision depends upon subject in which you want to pursue your career.
Hi Naresh,
The Refresher course allows serving teachers to share their experiences with their colleagues and learn from one another.
The Orientation Program provides opportunity for newly appointed instructors and on-duty teachers to become acquainted with the use of new emerging technologies.
Orientation is mandatory at many institutions, but even if it is not, you should go.
Hope that answers your question
See to be a freelancing full time content writer, it will require time. Its not like that you have registered in some website and you will get projects. So to build a brand value in the field you need to invest some time. Now there are many freelancers who earn may be more than a assistant professor per year but that takes time. As a result, if you don't have any economical issues then you can go for the freelancing but it won't be safe as that of the Assistant professor jobs. For most freshers in Freelance the payscale may be around Rs. 1.5LPA to 2 LPA where as for a assitant professor the payscale is above Rs. 6LPA (depending on the college but in general its greater than 6LPA for the probationary period and after that it increases considerably).
Now I would say if you aspire to be a vlogger or a content writer then you can do it along with your Assistant professorship job. I would say you should do some content writing internship and gain experience and then if you fill then switch the field. Now if you don't have any economical issue then you can go for a full time freelancer but getting freelancing to the pace will be time consuming. So as per my opinnion I would recommend you to go for the Assitant Professor job and then do the content writing as part time and gain some experience and then approach the industries, this way your value in the industry will increase as a content writter.
