You don't need to write improvement exam or something like that for your class 11 as your class 11th marks is not considered for NITs or IITs to be eligible.

Only your class 12th marks are considered. To be eligible for NITs, IIITs, IITs, GFTIs one needs at least

see iit jam exam is for admission in msc courses in reputed iits and nits, questions will be based oon your bsc course syllabus, however the fundamental clearance you may follow 12th books but donot expect to questions comes as 12th standard, you need to follow the previous years

As per rules of government if you failed in one subject in 10th then you can go for retest but if you have failed in more then 2 subjects then you are not eligible for retest so you have to wait for 1 more year for exam
