The BAL-001: Basics of Arabic course is a 12-week programme, brought to you by the New Delhi-based Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The course instructor is Dr Mohammed Saleem, the assistant professor of Arabic at the school of foreign languages, IGNOU. Together with several young Arabic experts, he has designed a simple, innovative, and learner-friendly study material for learners at IGNOU.
The BAL-001: Basics of Arabic programme aims to acquaint the participants with the essential fundamentals of the Arabic language. Gradually and systematically, this course will instil in the beginner an ability to speak, read, and write in the Arabic language with a certain level of confidence and accuracy.
Candidates will first be taught the Arabic words for everyday objects like a book, chair, pen, school, home, teacher, etc. They will master the Arabic alphabet, and they will write simple words and know how to pronounce them correctly through the BAL-001: Basics of Arabic online programme. The curriculum will also allow them to learn how to introduce themselves in Arabic along with using common expressions and simple interrogative sentences.
