Course Overview

Unpredictable climate changes have resulted in extreme rainfall. To get rid of excess water and to protect agricultural land, a new methodology and a better drainage system are a necessity. The Drainage in Agriculture: controlling water and salt levels in the soil course is designed to cater to the needs of agricultural water management, irrigation, and land management.

Drainage in Agriculture: controlling water and salt levels in the soil certification course is taught by experts in this field. The educators will put forward a practical guide through which the learners can gain impactful new insights. From drainage design to hydrological principles and from maintenance to implementation, each aspect is thoroughly explained in the modules. The main value of its course lies in the integration of all this knowledge and analyses through the lens of current changes in the drainage system.

On completing the course, the learners can assess greater value from their work. The learners will be capable enough to design their innovative drainage system once they get an idea from an overall perspective. The modules are integrated and designed in such a way that it is applicable in any country with the benefit of a verified certificate. EdX gives two different options for learners to join the programme; paid and free. In the free audit mode, the learners will be provided access to the course only for a limited time duration.

Eligibility Criteria

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in agricultural water or land management is preferred. Any similar programme will also be preferred. The enrolled students will be assumed to have basic knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, irrigation, agricultural water management, soil chemicals, physical process, and also biological process.

Certification Qualifying details

For Certification of Drainage in Agriculture: controlling water and salt levels in the soil course, the willing students will have to complete their graded assignment given in the modules. A passing grade is required which will be added to their final grade. The grades can be tracked on the Progress page. For the verified certificate you need to pay the certificate fees.

What you will learn

Knowledge of engineering

The Drainage in Agriculture: controlling water and salt levels in the soil course is specifically designed to enrich the existing knowledge in agriculture and its better management. Listed below are some points on this course:

  • The learners will get a good grasp of the drainage system
  • The role of  drainage  in an agricultural water system is thoroughly taught
  • The learners will be able to operate better control by creating better drainage design
  • The learners can understand better the differences in steady and unsteady approaches.
  • The learners will be able to formulate better drainage criteria
  • The effects of agricultural soil salinization and its further effects on the global population will be taught to the candidates
  • Better tools to manage the increase in water levels every year
  • Knowing how to create a positive impact on one’s environment
  • The learners will get a complete idea of how to apply this knowledge into practical usage
  • Learning to own one’s responsibility and make preparations for global climate changes

Who it is for

This course is designed to cater to the knowledge requirements for better management of agricultural land and water management. Given below information on who if avail the course, can be especially benefited:

  • Learners who desire to help protect the agricultural land
  • Learners who wish to implement their knowledge in their immediate surroundings.
  • Agricultural engineers, Irrigation professionals, Hydrologists, Water manager, Agricultural policymakers

NOTE: Although edX has licenses to offer its courses to multiple countries, one or more countries specifically Iran, Cuba and the Crimea region of Ukraine will not be able to register. It is because the licenses that edX received from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) are not broad enough, it has certain limitations.
