Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Polytechnic, Tehatta Admission Process

Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Polytechnic, Tehatta, is counted amongst one of the premier technical institutes of West Bengal. Admission to this government polytechnic is done so that genuine candidates can be selected into various engineering courses.

The main admission process is based upon the entrance examination conducted by WBSCT&VE&SD. For fresh pass-outs, the candidates need to pass the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics (JEXPO). For admission to the second year, the Vocational Lateral Entry Test (VOCLET) is conducted.

Candidates interested in admission need to follow the admission procedure, such as the announcement of application forms, exam dates, and declaration of results. Generally, the admission procedure follows the academic calendar; however, it may start a few months before the start of an academic year.

Application Process

  1. Registration has to be done for JEXPO or VOCLET examination of the WBSCT&VE&SD.

  2. The online application form for the respective examination needs to be filled out while ensuring that all the details being filled in regard to the applicant's personal particulars and academic status are correct.

  3. Payment of the assigned application fees, as instructed by WBSCT&VE&SD.

  4. Candidates must appear in the entrance examination (JEXPO or VOCLET) on the appointed date.

  5. Successful candidates will be called for counseling and seat allocation after the declaration of the entrance exam result.

  6. Candidates offered seats in Babasaheb Ambedkar Government Polytechnic shall mandatorily report in person for document verification and admission processes.

  7. Candidates need to pay the course fee and complete any other relevant admission processes specified by the institution.

Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the instructions mentioned in the admission notification and on the institute's website for a smooth proceeding of the application. The selection shall, however, be made purely on the basis of the merit list prepared from the entrance examination rank against the available number of seats.

Degree-wise Admission Procedure

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering: A three-year program, sanctioned intake of 60 students. Admission is made through JEXPO for first-year entry and through VOCLET for lateral entry into the second year. The course fee is around Rs 4,090.

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering: This has 60 seats like Civil Engineering, follows the same admission process through JEXPO and VOCLET examinations. The course fee is around Rs 4,090.

  • Diploma in Computer Science and Technology: This program has 60 seats, too, and follows admission by JEXPO and VOCLET. Specific fee amounts for this program are not available as yet, but these are expected to carry similar fees above.

For all these programs, the applicants must have completed their 10+2 with the required subjects as per the WBSCT&VE&SD norms. The exact eligibility criteria, including minimum marks, subject combinations, etc., should be verified against the official admission notification.

Normally required admission documents:

  • Class-10 and Class-12 mark sheets and pass certificates.

  • Entrance exam (JEXPO/VOCLET) scorecard.

  • Domicile certificate (if applicable).
